August Sword Fighting Tournament 2012 Results and more.

The tournament ended a few days ago, but haven't made a post about the results. Many users participated, new and old participants. Here are the full results.

Now, I'm going to announce something new. We're now having a tournament every season. We'll be having a tournament in Fall/Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Since all of these tournaments have become very popular, I decided to have more tournaments and more often. The tournament place had a name change. It is now called "RN SF Tourney: Season 1" which means this is the first season. There will be new maps for every new season. There might be a new lobby too. I will make a permanent lobby that will never change. The tournaments will now be called "Tourney" so stop calling it "tournament."

Gifts of Olympia!

As the Olympics are coming to an end with only 2 and a half days remaining, I thought it would be fitting to release a few items to commemorate the event. Over the next three days I will be releasing 4 Olympic themed gifts for users to take. They will only be available for a very short time and will be very collectable.

The New Backpack: in-game character editing?

Well, as some of you may have noticed, ROBLOX have recently updated the backpack to a bigger one that fits more, and I think this may have something to do with in-game character changing.
Here is a picture of the new backpack:

It has been enlarged.... what could this mean?

Well. There is tons of things it could mean, but there is one main reason.. Remember that while ago they prototyped the in-game character changing. Well, they had the same backpack, pretty sure! Here is a pic:

This is a very suspicious thing ROBLOX have done, but with a little research, I have found this conclusion. There is no other conclusion as to why the backpack looks exactly the same to the old prototyped one. There can't be another reason, look at them! They're excactly the same! Although the new backpack only has one option - gear. It could be leading to the next tab. And I personally don't think wardrobe will be the last tab. I think they'll keep the backpack for a while. And the wardrobe. But probably ROBLOX will do one more tab, something to do with the character- perhaps in game private messages.

Hello, I'm Regilord.

     Hey guys, I'm regilord. I'm sorry for being so late with this, but I just finished a week at camp without service and I was rudely cut off from the outside world. But without further ado, this would just about the time I start my bio.

     I guess it's proper to state why and what I am doing here and I view that as a fine place to start. Since around December 2011 I have been avidly reading Roblox News and been hoping for an opening. When I saw a job opening for place reviewer I lunged for it but I did not get the job, yet I did get an article published. Catalog Heaven has been my first and only article ever published and it was what inspired me to join RN as an intern. Sadly I was told it was basically a sure fire way in if I had a decent application which, after an edit or two, I did. So it wasn't much of a challenge to get in. 

     I first heard of Roblox sometime in September 2008 from a group of my closest friends at the time, and one time I went over to his house and I decided to join. It took me an hour to come up with a name that didn't use numbers. It happened to be regilord. A name of which the origin only me and the friend know. I you want to know the embarrassing origin you can pm me or tweet me. I deny to openly say it on the world wide web. In 2012 around April I quit for about a month or two, but boredom, emptiness, and twitter followers brought me back. Everyone must admit there is a time where you want to quit and sometimes you do, but something always brings you back.

     I don't really play games all that much unless I'm testing my games, just hanging out, or if it catches my eye. I'm normally just foruming or checking out all the cool things I can't afford in the catalog. But you can always catch me in the same classic games such as the original SFOTH. And the only thing I've seemed to forgot to say is I'm a place reviewing intern for Banjobug. I guess that's all, until next time fellow readers.

Roblox For iPad: Roblox to the max?

Hey there, it's me. Zakary99. So, I've recently been looking through ROBLOX's blog, and I have discovered that the ROBLOX for iPad is in development. And they are working hard on it! On the app, you would be able to roam people's profiles and play games. iPad graphics are very high and great. They run all shadows in a fast speed.

I have a personal belief that the ROBLOX for iPad, would run dynamic lighting in a 'giffy. In the demo video they showed a few months ago ROBLOX running in a really, really fast way. Unbelievably fast. I was very impressed, and I am hoping for this app myself (Unfortunately, I have no iPad). Would this app be a use to you? Because I would love to have this. If I had an iPad. I probably would no longer use my laptop for ROBLOX. Because that, is gaming to the max!

Would you like to know why I have enlarged this picture more?
The reason for that is because I would like to mention the ROBLOX in-game interface that ROBLOX are working on. Now, look at those graphics! They are beautiful! You wouldn't expect anything more from ROBLOX, or from Apple! Roblox have done very well on the in-game interface. It looks great, I get to move my look camera, run and walk, choose tools and view my health. And we even have the menu at the top left. I don't think they have added the playerlist yet. But I expect they'll make it smaller and more mobile.

Disaster Survival Tycoon Review

Disaster survivals have been around for ages, and so have tycoons. However, to my knowledge, no one has created a successful mixture of the two. However, it still has some issues that need to be ironed out.
Gameplay 6/10
The basic goal of the game is (obviously) to survive. You start out with nothing but a house. However, for almost every disaster you can survive by just sitting in your house. You can buy safer buildings such as a tower to escape from rising lava/water or a bunker.
Effort 6/10
All the buildings that were made are either incredibly simple or copied from classic ROBLOX models. Also, a lot of the disasters are basically the same. Fallings cars, falling meteors, falling rocks, etc.
Creativity 8/10
As far as I know nobody has ever combined Survivals and tycoons successfully.
Overall 6.5/10
Suggestions

• More disasters
• Make the disasters more deadly, hiding your house shouldn't make you invincible to most of the disasters
• Make a disaster that rains giant unicorns

August Sword Fighting Tournament 2012 Quarter-Finals

Just like most events in the Olympics, we're in the Quarter-Finals of the tourney. Many people have fought to advance, some had their journey ended quickly. Swords flew everywhere, left and right. Only 8 participants can move on, here they are.

Also, the winners will move onto the Semi-Finals and those will take place on the same day. On August 7, it's the finale. That's where the Final match takes place and the 3rd/4th place match takes place. I also announce a few things that will happen related to the SF tourneys.  That's it! It all ends August 7.

Crafting System: Good Idea?

So I was browsing my twitter one day and I saw a tweet by Shedletsky with the blog post on Roblox's Blog. It was about the upcoming Crafting System. When I first saw this blog my literal reaction was "OH MAH GAWD MINECRAFT RIPOFF", and I even ranted about it on LMaD. Then someone (forgot who) told me that I was hadn't read the entire blog and so I reread it and it made so much sense to me. Here are some pictures of the Crafting System.

I was thinking that this was a very good idea, especially for NBCers (if this system is for NBCers). Let's say you have really good items but you either don't have the money for a better item or you aren't BC and you can't trade. You can recycle your old gears/hats that you don't want that would have their own supplies (i.e. Sword Pack is made with 2x Polished Steel). And you would want to make your own DarkAge Ninja Swordpack (which is made from 3x Polished Steel and 1x Shard of Darkheart). You'd almost be there!

I thought this was a great idea because it would help investors alot! If you wanted a Dominus Emp, but you didn't have the money or no limiteds, you could recycle your older hats/gears that you don't want and try to get the Dominus Emp. This is a great idea and, although it seems like MineCraft, it would help the ROBLOX economy and it would decrease the inflation by getting rid of older hats. 

One flaw, is that if you were to recycle your limited item, that would make the limited item more rare, which would also make the price raise causing inflation.

Hey, I'm Phantomazing!

Hello! My name is Phantomazing, and I'm a summer intern for Roblox News! I'll be making some graphics for this site, including banners for the sliding banner above. I'm very exited to be working at RN! :)

I first heard of this Roblox sometime around June 2010 when a couple friends at school told me about it. When they mentioned it was an online construction game, I was immediately interested in joining. Then over a year later, Jesse005, one of my friends who told me about Roblox, said he became an intern for Roblox News. I've been reading this blog ever since. Also, I've made some logos for the site in the past, including the Roblox News Egg Hunt logo and the Roblox News Sword Fighting Tournament emblem.

What I do on Roblox nowadays is retexture, make clothing, ads, logos, and other graphics, and play games every now and them.

I'm shadowing TREVOR818730, and coordinating with Flingi2.
