IBarrageI's Picks: BLOXcon Posters

Heyo, IBarrageI here.

As many of you may know, my passion in life is graphic design. So of course I jumped with joy at the announcment of the BloxCon Poster Contest. It's not always that Roblox do Graphic design contests, but the total of these contests this year has now totaled 2 with the Splash Screen contest being the other one.

(Ok. I don't like to preach, but here it my entry if you wish to check it out.)

Now, onto why I'm here

Below are some of my favourite entries into this contest with reasons why I like them. :)

First off, we have this entry from hammer142. He has entered his in for the London category.
Bloxcon_poster_final_normal
I believe this is one of the most stand out competitors in this category as the overall feel of it is just so... What's the word? Strong? Yeah, strong. The reason for this is that it shows many aspects of the British icons, such as the red arrows, Big Ben, and of course, the bowler hats.

Next we have this Chicago entry from wall142.
Bloxcon_poster_entry_normal
Now let me stop you here. This design is so simple, that "apple took a patent out on it before it came out". Get it? Because they copyright everything that's simple?.. Ah forget it.

This entry is so simple and elegant, that it just screams out "come to me" because it is so refreshing to see such professionalism in one image. *cough* ahem yeah I need to calm down now. Good work wall142.

Next we have this NYC entry from IIFlipII
Bloxconiiflipii_normal

Thought wall142's entry was simple? Well check out this one. This style of graphics is what is known as "flat graphics". Whereby a design is limited to just simple logos, block colour and text with as little complexity within it as possible. This one is eye-catching aswell as professional. Definitely one of the front runner in this contest.

Next up we have this NYC entry from godsend
New_york_poster_normal

This entry has a lot going on, and it is sure to make people feel proud to be going to NYC to see the sights and scenes you will see in New York, such as the Statue of Liberty, The Shuttles, and many aviation machines.

Nice work godsend

Next we have this beautifully simple entry by TREVOR818730
Chicagoposter_normal
Using the iconic ROBLOX avatar holding a torch, this gives a soft sense of adventure.
The skyline has also got shadows on it, obviously to pay homage to the newest release of dynamic lighting.
Once again, I feel that the simplest of entries are getting the most attention, and this one isn't different.

Here we have freaked's entry
Bloxcon_poster_chicago2_normal
Wow.

The detail and simplicity of this speaks for itself.
Please, if I die now while looking at this, I'll die happy. As this is just the height of design.

Please, just keep doing what you're doing freaked.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

After writing this post, it's put me in the mood of reviewing people's posters.

Be sure to send me your posters to me on twitter (@WayAboveSociety) to recieve a nice little critique on it. :)

Until next time. Goodbye my friends, goodbyyyyyyyye.

Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma - The bias wars

When Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma was made limited...scratch that, even BEFORE it was made limited, there was what seemed like an all-out war between Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma owners and those who didn't own it.

Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma

On one hand, you had the loyal owners of Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma who stick to the idea that it would be worth 200,000+ robux when it sells out and will be worth more than sparkle time fedoras and elemental helms.

But then you have the non-owners who stick to their logic of "it's to expensive and will have too many sails, it will fail miserably".

For the entire length of Crimsonwrath's sale timer, the 2 sides argued, each side using fairly logical arguments about why it will or will not fail. On one hand, "it's going to have 200+ sales and fail because there are too many owners". But on the other hand, "it's a retexture of a 500,000+ robux limited item and everyone will want it".

Both sides had good arguments, but when the wait was over and Crimsonwrath finally went limited, the results were finally seen.

When it first went limited, it sold for 90 - 100,000 robux and was traded for big-scale items like The Agonizingly Ugly Bucket of Doom, Dominus Messor, and Arctic Commando[or so the owners claimed].

But, as the non-owners predicted, it rapidly began to lower. The next day it reached 85,000 robux. The next day, 80,000, then 75,000, and it is currently selling for a price of 63,000 robux, a price at which the owners lose profit.

The biggest war was between Crimsonwrath, LotM and Bluesteel Fedora.

All over the Let's Make a Deal forum you could see "LOTM > BSF" and "LOLNO BSF > LOTM".

In the end, Bluesteel Fedora ended up being worth more. I myself had to trade Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma + 10,000 robux in items for my Bluesteel Fedora.

My suggestion to you investors: Get rid of your Crimsonwrath as soon as you can, and for as big an item as you can. The owners insist it's 100,000+, but it's rapidly failing and it would be a good idea to get what you can for it while you can.

[BC] Hangout - Moan-Up Place Review

[BC] Hangout!I thought roleplay games were starting to get better, until I realized there were games with cracks, houses not made by the creator and just placed on an empty baseplate with no real CFrames at all. God kill me now. This game can be referred to as 'ODer heaven' or 'ODer land' or even 'Needs ODer patrol'.

When I entered the game I was greeted by a blatantly free modeled elevator, and by blatantly I mean dragged off of the toolbox and onto the spawn, that's how pathetic this game is.

There is also three or so hot tubs in this game, all of which just have smoke rising from them. The house is blatantly not made by the creator, and yet despite it being a free model it still isn't the right size for a robloxian, three times the height of my own. That's very annoying.

The VIP area is blatantly made by the creator, consisting of many cracks and then a free modeled VIP door.  The cracks make the things the VIP contains very visible, allowing us to see how awful VIP actually is. The creator of this game obviously has no knowledge of scripting, building nor does he know how to advertise a game on it's front cover - he's so stingy that he won't even make the cover an actual picture, instead of one made inside studio.

Also, this game has a random 20 bricks that are making an illusion, and they are nothing to do with the game, they don't even relate to the word 'Hangout'. It's so obvious that things were placed from the disgraceful toolbox in the free models section.

The VIP is 36R$ and not even a game pass, I assume because he didn't want to make the game nice and swish with a professional game pass. Or he just couldn't get the script for a game pass on the wiki. Either way, stingy or lazy and I don't like people who are like either of those two personalities. It just shows they're not the sort of person you want to hang out with.

The game states in the description 'This is a fun hangout for any bc to come and enjoy!!', nothing in this is true, when would a game that is so awfully built make me enjoy it? Huh? Answer me?! Well exactly, you can't. As much as I love reviewing awful games, I deteste visiting them, you evil readers, you! Only joking.

DON'T VISIT THIS GAME, IF YOU WANT TO LIVE...

Scripting: 0/10
Awful, awful, bro do you even code?

Building: 0/10
Seeing as nothing was made by the creator, he doesn't deserve anything.

Overall: 0/10

GOOD JOB!

Hat Review: Headstack!

Hey guys, I’m back after a long break and I apologize. I have been extremely busy with school and family I haven’t had time to write reviews. I have exams early June and vacation right after so basically for most of June I won’t even be on roblox meaning no reviews. Anyways today I’m here to bring you a classic hat review! Today I will be covering one of the hats in this year’s memorial sale, it’s a classic! Today I’m reviewing Headstack!

Mesh:  My first thought when I saw it in the catalog today was classic, I mean really this looks old just looks old and nice the hat itself looks like nothing you would normally  in the catalog. The mesh it good, it sits on your head like a perfect stack, your head being the biggest, next head being a bit smaller than the last head being the smallest. Honestly, I give this classic a 10/10!

Appearance: This hat is great, it sits on the top of your head and fits nicely it also looks really cool. It is a joker hat if you know what I mean; it makes you look like you have 3 heads. The best hat you could wear with this would be headstack, it would make you look like you hat 5 heads!  I give it 9/10!

Price: This hat has a great price for a classic hat.  It was off sale till Friday (Memorial Day sale ) and came back on a timer till Thursday, the 30th of May for just 280 robux! I highly suggest investing money into this hat for its rarity and history. This deserves a 10/10!

Overall 10/10
This hat is one of the better hats put back on sale during this sale so I adivse you buy it. Thanks for reading!

Gear Review: ROBLOX World Tour Lightning Guitar

ROBLOX World Tour Lightning Guitar

ROBLOX World Tour Lightning Guitar

Mesh/Texture: 10/10
No doubt, this guitar looks epic. It has the mesh of a classic-looking guitar with a simple base painted black with the rest of it made of wood and 6 strings extending to the top. It has all the features a real guitar would have, and I appreciate the detail. There's a pretty cool design on the base. The word BLOXCON is scrawled out at the top in red-outlined letters. A globe with the ROBLOX logo covering it is in the center with 2013 under it, and there's lightning circling the design adding to the "lightning" in the guitar's name. The black paint on the base on the guitar is shiny, making it look fancier and less dull than it would've been plain.

In-game: 8/10
This guitar plays sort of like Guitar Hero. When you equip it, you're given a set of keyboard letters to hit. When you hit the first key, a line goes down a strip of other letters. If you miss any of them, the guitar does nothing and you have to start over. If you hit them all correctly, the guitar players an awesome solo in an explosion of lightning that strikes any player near you. The only thing that should be fixed is the speed the keys need to be played. ROBLOX is mostly little kids, and they probably can't play as fast as the guitar requires. But overall, it's a cool gear.

Price: 5/10
You'd think that because of the Captain Bluesteel incident, roblox would learn not to blatently tell people that an item is going limited when it goes offsale. But no, they did it again with this guitar. It had the same price as Captain Bluesteel, 500 robux, and sold for a slightly shorter amount of time. It went offsale a few minutes before I submitted this review, and has 3,106 sales, a very high amount, but less than Captain Bluesteel by a lot. Its current price is 650 robux, a failing price, and still dropping. ROBLOX needs to stop letting people know if an item is going to be limited or not. If you TELL people it's going to be limited, thousands of people will but it and it will fail like Captain Bluesteel and this guitar both did.

Overall: 8/10
Despite the fail pricing, the guitar looks rockin' on your avatar and is a cool gear to use in-game. I wouldn't suggest it for investment purposes, but as a gear it's excellent.

Boys vs. Girls Island Wars! RANT Review

Where's my robot? Where's my helicopter?
You know, I feel like Boys vs. Girls games and I have some kind of connection. It's almost like we both hate eachother, but we both love hating eachother. It's a bit like Batman and The Joker. We're both bitter enemies, but neither of us know what we'd do without the other. (Guys, I actually AM Batman. Surprise!) I mean seriously, what would I do if there weren't any BvG games? I've only reviewed them twice before here and here. Anyway, enough talk. On to the review!
Gameplay 5/10
The  gameplay is actually surprisingly fun. Unless you consider the fact that I've seen every single one of the vehicles before. The place thumbnail showed a giant robot. I did NOT see any giant robots and I was very disappointed. The basic goal is to go from your island to the other island and kill everyone on it because the other gender is so inferior. That's basically it. You get a rocket launcher and a few guns that really just don't work at all. It's fun for a bit, but then it gets really boring really fast.
Effort 3/10
I can imagine that quite a bit of effort went into this. Not TOO much effort but a little bit. Everything looks way too familiar so I don't really trust that he made it himself.
Creativity 2/10
Do I really have to explain why BvG games aren't creative? Haven't I already gone into that TWICE. As I said in my most recent BvG review "This kind of thing has been thought of by just about every 5 year old on the planet." This still applies today. It's not creative. It's really just kinda stupid.
Overall 3.5/10
Suggestions
  • Give me my robot! You promised me robots
  • Dude! There aren't HELICOPTERS either? Not cool man, not cool.
  • Make sure the weapons actually WORK. The only reliable tool is the rocket.
  • Get rid of the outer door controlling buttons. Why should the enemy have access to those?
  • Add a giant double rainbow over the entire map that periodically makes it rain explosive ponies.
If you want your place reviewed simply contact Banjobug on twitter or send me a private message on ROBLOX. The next post could be about your place! I'll be glad to give you ideas on your place and help make it better. Also, if you find a place that is absolutely awful and on the front page send me a PM and I might make a RANT about it!

Also, you should follow me on twitter even if you don't have a RANT or review request! Sometimes I invite my followers to go to places with me to help review them.

Memorial Day Sale - Early Poll Results

Recently early results for the memorial day sale were posted in the official ROBLOX blog. I have to say, I am extremely disappointed with the results. Let's do a quick run-through. And remember, this is not ALL the results, just a few of them.

Items Going Limited

The Valkyrie Helm
Valkyrie Helm
The Valkyrie Helm, a roblox classic that has existed since 2008. I personally think this was a terrible choice to go limited. It looks good, so of course it will have high demand, but over 11,000 have sold and it rwill likely sell for less than its original price.

Sword Pack
Sword pack
One of the most popular hats on roblox, went offsale with over 130,000 buys. It may or may not profit, because the original price was fairly cheap at 150 robux. buy so many exist the sellers may price war it into failure. If you own swordpack, though, I'd hold onto it. It'll take a few days to reach its potential highest price.

Sk9r Boi
Sk9r Boi
This one came as a shock to me. I never thought I'd see any of the typical "online dater" hats go limited, let alone one with over 120,000 sales. Despite its massive sell count, I'd suggest buying it right now, because it has one of the highest demands of any item on roblox and it will no doubt make a profit.

Items Coming Back Onsale

Blue Plaid Fedora
Blue Plaid Fedora
A semi-classic fedora made completely from a blue plaid texture. Its original price was 1,357 robux and it will likely be going back on-sale for that price, so save your money. Although I'm sad that this hat is coming back making it less rare, lots of people have been wanting it and I guess it is time for a revival.

Headstack
Headstack
I really hated seeing this on the back-on-sale list. It's a very classic hat, dating all the way back to mid-2007, and like many other classics like Biggerhead, Cake Hat, and Silverthorn Antlers, it will be ruined in this sale. It will probably be fairly cheap, between 100 and 250 robux.

Sk10r Boi
Sk10r Boi
I'm sure everyone saw this coming. The popular skater hat, sk10r[skatenner?] boi coming back onsale once again. It first went onsale close to the release of ): Purple Indy. It came out very late and sold for only a few hours for 7 robux, and sold again on the President's Day Weekend Sale for 70 robux. It will probably be in that price range.

Items Being Discounted

Bluesteel Crown
Bluesteel Crown
A hat made only a few months ago for the President's Day Weekend sale. It is currently selling for 5,000 robux, a pretty extreme price for a retexture. It looks awesome buy doesn't sell too well, with currently less than 400 sales. My guess is that it will be discounted to a minimum of 2,500 robux.

8 Ball Headphones
8-Ball Headphones
The popular 8 Ball Headphones will be discounted for the second time this year. Last sale they were discounted to 444 robux, half its current price, and I assume it will be discounted to that or cheaper this year.

Mr. Hatbot
Mr. Hatbot
I didn't see this one coming at all. Mr. Hatbot is a pretty unpopular hat with less than 300 sales since 2009 as opposed to Bluesteel Crown's 380-400 sales in a couple of months. It must have been a collaborative effort from a large group of friends who all wanted to see this discounted.

Classical Swordpack Throwback
Classic Swordpack Throwback
The Deluxe Ninja Swordpack retextured grey to capture the "classic essence" of the original swordpack. Like Bluesteel Crown, this was made for the President's Day Weekend Sale. I don't see the logic behind voting for this to be discounted, honestly. It's only 150 robux, a very small price to pay. Even the lowest level of BC has to wait about 10 days to receive enough money, and with a bonus that could be shortened to about 8.

Retextures Being Published

Bluesteel Bathysphere by DarkGenex
Bluesteel Bathysphere REDUX [WILL BE PUBLISHED]
Was there ever any doubt this would be published? With darkgenex spending[if he's telling the truth] 600,000+ tickets on advertising, and all of his loyal Let's Make a Deal friends joining in, I don't see how this could NOT get published. I assume it will be around 755 robux, the price of the original Bathysphere hat, and non-limited.

Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma by IBarrageI
Crimsonwrath,Lord of the Magma [WILL BE PUBLISHED]
Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma, the runner-up to Bluesteel Bathysphere's popularity, was another surefire win for the sale. Let's Make a Deal, the experts on profit and limited items, suspect it will be 900 robux with 123 in stock like Azurewrath, Lord of the Void, which it's based on. Because 900 robux is a lot easier to get today than back then, it could possibly be up to 10,000 robux. If you're online when it comes out, BUY IT. There have been offers as high as Green Sparkle Time Fedora[worth 180,000+] for it.

Now remember, these are the early results, not the full roster. More items will be discounted, limited, and back on-sale, and I assume more retextures will be published too. The sale starts on Friday and goes all the way til Wednesday, so keep your eyes out for items you like.

Paranormal Activity - Place Review

Paranormal Activity (NBC)_ImageI looked at the front page, and there's this new game, it's called 'Paranormal Activity', there's a reason I never let the front page decide whether a game is good. And this review may explain why, but not to the point, if you know what I mean.

I was expecting to join the game and it look like the front page, but it's obviously not. 'Never judge a book by it's cover'. I did, bad move.

I was lucky enough to join a server with nobody in it, allowing me to see all the special effects, they're not anything special, just some tacky CFrames and tacky scripts- the effects aren't even in the player's Current Camera, so once the effect has been used- it can't be used again. That's just stupid.

The game is sorted into teams, useless teams telling you whether you're in the office or outside. To be honest I never remember having to be told which environment I am in, I can work out by myself thanks! There's also a pointless, noticeably free modeled 'Seconds Alive' leaderboard, as well as a 'Chat Gui' obviously not made by the creator - the chat Gui I have seen in many other games.

Some of the tacky effects looked cool, like the small blood footprints that I followed, but it still didn't impress me. I'm also not a fan of games like 'Paranormal Activity' in which you enter and do not get scared even the slightness, it gives the game no purpose, I think I'd find 'Rose Tyler' more scary than this game. Back to the point.

When you spawn, you are greeted with some awful characters with the name above their heads saying their thoughts, I always thought bringing Dialogs in was supposed to avoid that, that's just a poor use of Roblox Resources, I would have used a billboard gui, I would have used items that would make my game look better, attract more users.

The game also consists of stupid buildings, like the buildings that are completely white with no interior worth looking at what-so-ever. Also, when I finished the tiny little obstacle course I was killed, I think to myself, 'What was the point in me even entering the game, if all I entered for was to die?'.

Don't visit this place, you may die, because it's so scary...

Scripting: 4/10
Not professional or good in any way.

Building: 4/10
Could have done loads better, take a lesson from Cameron Stickley.

Overall: 4/10
Awful, awful and awful.

This game was also stolen from 1Dev2.

Thanks for reading.

Memorial Day Survey: Retexture Race

Hi. IBarrageI here back from what seems a big break. (Exam troubles and whatnot have caused me to be inactive with RN for some time). But I am back now, ready to bring you more posts.

This post is about the Memorial Day poll going on right now. And this post is specifically about the retextures being voted in the survey to be published. (Side note: arbirator has told me to be totally unbiased when it comes to this post due to me being mentioned in this post. I might have difficulty with this :P)

First off we have the very humble "Sock" by the ever amusing Phantomazing

The Sock

Phantomazing made this retexture /number/ months ago to celebrate the Olympics, but it sadly never got published. So now the time has come for a survey with a chance to get a retexture published if enough people vote for it, he took it upon himself to start advertising it with this Sock-tastic ad.

This ad has proved to be effective as it has passed 1500 takes. Not bad for such a humble retexture.

Secondly we have the clown mask by Plasticine.

Trollin' Clown [Vote this!]

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm scared of clowns, (I think that's because of the fact they seem to be always smiling) and I am also scared of this retexture. This retexture is an inventive one, using the comedy mask to then create such a creepy and awesome clown mask. This retexture is also being advertised using a block style ad with a dark theme to it.

Spooky.

Plasticine's retexture has passed 1900 takes, and is one of the retextures in with a good chance of getting high in the rankings.

Next we have the silver tea kettle by the upcoming retexturer Sporeman15.

Silver Teakettle Of Pwnage (VOTE FOR [READ DESC])

Now, I understand how much work has been put into this retexture, as I know how the texture on that mesh is made up. As quoting from the man himself "it wasn't easy, it was a massive game of trial and error".

He has currently got 2 ads running on this retexture and boy are they eye catching.

Giving a users a question to answer in an ad is a great way to bring attention to it, meaning that now over 2100 people have taken it making it one of the 5 front runners in this retexture race.

Next we have the Rainbow Crown of Ozymandias by JewleyCat

Rainbow Crown of Ozymandias [VOTE]

Once again I understand the pain that must of gone into this retexture. As there are so many different parts to this texture that you wouldn't believe, even if you located them all on the mesh, you would still have a hard time retexturing it. I salute you *citation*, this is an incredible show of determination

Now we are coming up to main "power forces" in this race, and this is where I break arbirator's rule.

Here we have the Bluesteel Bathysphere. A "comical?" creation by DarkGenex.

Bluesteel Bathysphere REDUX [VOTE TODAY]

Ok, I'll say it. Is Bluesteel rust proof? I guess I wouldn't want to be the person finding out.

DarkGenex is an old hand when it comes to these surveys, while he recently got Blizzaria: The Frozen published for the President's day sale via the survey, due to it being mass advertised. And now he is back and more crazier than ever with his masterful creation? Mass advertising once again.

He is using maximum bids of 99,999 tickets on ads, and this now has gotten him over 6800 in the time of just 4-5 days (yikes).

Brighteyes revealed a few days ago that DarkGenex's retexture and another one are roughly 20 votes apart. "What retexture?" I bet you are all asking.

Well I have left the best till last (I'm disappointed in you ~arbirator), and there is no doubt that this is the best retexture in the race (seriously you're fired ~arbirator). It is the amazing (I won't tell you again ~arbirator) Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma by IBarrageI.

Ok, less of the bias now and more of the explanation behind this retexture. Ok so the first time I saw the original hat, I thought to myself, "that is an interesting mesh, I bet I could make that more impressive" and then just decided to be unoriginal and turn it into Crimsonwrath but more dark and rock covered. I have tried on many occasions tried to get it published via the Black Friday/President's Day surveys but failed miserably. So this time I decided to mass advertise it to give it attention. 8 ads all running at the same time, I eventually got 5000 copies taken within a 4-5 day period and has now become slightly viral with many other retextures such as the clown mask by plasticine and the bathysphere by DarkGenex creating ads "slamming" Crimsonwrath.

Examples of the slam ads:

But less of my story. Who do you think is going to win?
Let us know in the comments below. And we'll see if you are correct.

(Have you got an awesome retexture story you'd like to tell me about? Pm me on roblox (username: IBarrageI) and I may end up interviewing you for roblox news.)

Bargain of the week: Lightning Baseball Cap!

Greetings fellow  experts and virtual items enthusiasts! Today I bring you a post dedicated to a new addition to the ROBLOX catalog: the Lightning Baseball Cap which you can bag for a cool 35R$. This cap is pefect for completing simple retro looks, and makes for good hat combinations with black shades that offset the striking yellow colour.

Building on the base of the Corduroy Baseball Cap's original texture and mesh, the Lightning Baseball Cap adds extra 3-D realism through the use of the lighting bolt on the centre of the cap. The bolt is raised adding depth to the hat and differentiating it from other caps within the 20-40R$ price range. The colours of the cap also make for an interesting combination with the bright yellow offsetting the dark navy background on the base of the hat. If you take a closer look, the rim of the cap also has slight cross-hatching adding a nice finishing touch and distinguishing it from other caps.

As mentioned in the introduction, this hat is worn effectively with other facial accessories such as shades. If you are lucky enough to own a pair of Ice Cold Stunnas (the greatest eyewear item every created) then I would highly recommend wearing it with the lighting Cap as displayed in the image to the right. It would also suit headphones and headsets well!

The Lightning Baseball Cap just goes to show that often the best hats are cheap, simple, and just plain retro! For 35R$ you receive a simple cap, with a neat texture, awesome mesh features with the bolt and a great contrasting colour scheme. This hat really is a bargain!

    Interview with Keyrut!

Today I bring you an interesting dynamic lighting themed interview with Keyrut; an active ROBLOX forumer. Here is what he had to say!
    Keyrut

    Q) Do you believe dynamic lighting can add suspense to ROBLOX horror games? Why?
    A) I believe it adds in a new feeling to games on the way it is used, and if it is used correctly it can, such as horror games, or even war games, it adds a whole new element of fear.

    Q) Which do you prefer; dark games, or light games? Why?
    A) I like both dark and light because in dark games it showcases the full potential of dynamic lighting, and in light games it has the new set of shadowing in certain areas of the game that are intentionally made dark, which is also pretty cool.

    Q) What do you believe is the best aspect to the dynamic lighting update? Why?
    A) I love the Global Shadows property, mainly because it completely transforms a old game to a new game, it makes it just feel simply, amazing.

    Q) Upon its release, describe the game ideas that immediately came to mind?
    A) The first Idea I had were Muzzle Flashes (this has now be implemented into Battlefield), and Police Cars. ( Haha, I know not the best but pretty cool)

    Q) How do you think dynamic lighting adds to the ROBLOX experience?
    A) It adds in a lot more awe into games, other then that it also shows ROBLOX not only is beautiful but has successfully been able to make a game beautiful and with virtually no lagg!

    Q) What is your favourite place with dynamic lighting implemented?
    A) Strobe!

    Q) Are there any features you would add to dynamic lighting? Describe them
    A) I would probably add a further distance for shadows to be show and possibly more Range for point-lights and spotlights.

    Q) If you were a ROBLOX developer and were asked to design an item with dynamic lighting properties, what would it be?
    A) A Mining Helmet, because you know, lights on hats would be cool.

    Q) Out of the five gears that currently alter dynamic lighting. which is your favourite?
    A) Lightblox Jar

    Q) Finally, sum up dynamic lighting in one word!
    A) Nani (Beautiful in Hawaiian)

Place Review - Battlefield (Pre-Pre Alpha)

Battlefield [Pre-Pre-Pre Alpha]_ImageBattlefield is an excellent game, it's by far the best first-person-shooter on ROBLOX, with an excellent FieldOfView and aim. The game uses dynamic lighting in an epic way, each time you shoot there is a light that surrounds your character, and I think that just gives off the perfect effect.

Battlefield is an amazing FPS, it includes many different guns that you can choose and customize with multiple attachments and camos, each gun allows you to have two attachments, plus a third one with a special perk. The classes you have also include perks, you are also limited to two perks, that is a great limit, not too much not too little. The game has recoil and hit-markers. Hit-mark always gives a great effect and tells you when you have hit a player.

Battlefield cycles through many different maps, and DeadzoneZackZak has allowed the public to submit one of their maps to him and perhaps if it's good enough to be used in Battlefield, I think that is a great thing DeadzoneZackZak has done. The public love to get involved.

Although the game is in Alpha, it is very intense and fun, I love hiding round corners and camping, each gun has an accurate aim and shoot. I love how I can aim and have the exact same scope as I do on normal Call of Duty, Battlefield feels like the Call of Duty style.

Once you die on Battlefield you respawn with your camera circling your gun, with a billboard gui allowing you to change your guns attachments and camo. This is a very good addition ZackZak has done, it just gives a better effect to the game. This game is a big step from Deadzone's previous game, Deadzone, and it's pretty epic too.

I have played it many times and even bought a game pass for it. There are many attachments and ZackZak is a very public person, therefore what the people suggest countless times is usually added. Battlefield is also well moderated, earlier Cameron Stickley and I were playing Battlefield and there was somebody claiming to be a moderator, blatantly spelling moderating wrong by saying "modify", and a moderator, Philcutie, told ZackZak the player's name and got them banned for impersonation. I believe that is great moderation.

Battlefield is my favourite FPS because it is a perfect aim-down sights. It also has a brilliant use of Dynamic Lighting and the Lens flare that the game contains is blocky but very, very effective, ZackZak managed to keep the same style of gameplay, he managed to keep the game realistic but at the same time standard ROBLOX (blocky).

    Scripting: 10/10
Excellent scripting, definitely one of my favourite scripters.

    Building: 7/10
Although many of the buildings are made by the public, they are all at a good standard.

    Tools: 10/10
    Excellent aiming and excellent guns.

    Overall: 8/10
Great job, I love games like this, it's definitely a long-time favourite, just like Sword Fighting Tournament.

Hat Review: Donald P. Sullivan - Gold Edition

    Donald P. Sullivan
    Gold Edition

Donald P Sullivan - Gold Edition

    Mesh: 7/10
There isn't all that much to say about the mesh. It's the exact same mesh as the original Donald P. Sullivan hat. A cylinder-headed robot with angry-looking eyed, a bowler hat, and a fancy-looking moustache. The original hat wasn't too popular at first, so they made a package to go along with it.

    Texture: 10/10
Even if this is just an edited version of an old hat, you have to admit the texture looks awesome. Everything is gold. The head is gold, the bowler hat is gold, his hair is gold. Even his moustache is gold. The only thing not covered in gold are his eyes. If the eyes were gold, it would have looked worse, so I'm glad they kept the eyes as they were.

    Price: 3/10
I don't know what on earth the ROBLOX staff were thinking when they priced and stocked this hat. It's 7,500 robux with 350 in stock. When my hat notifier told me this came out and I saw the price, I expected it to have 50 or 100 in stock. But I was extremely disappointed when I saw how many there really were. Even with it completely coated in gold, it's taken[to this point] 5 hours to sell out, and 105 still remain. I estimate it will start out at around 9 - 10,000 robux and then drop to around 5,000. If the stock had been lower, it probably would've sold out long ago and be at around 20-30k right now. In all the years that limited items have been around, the ROBLOX staff still doesn't seem to be improving at pricing and stocking them.

    Overall: 6/10
This hat looks good, a totally gold-covered revamp of an old, non-so-popular hat. But the price and stock are ludicrous and the staff should've known better. It will fail as a limited item. So if you have 3-4,000 robux, I'd suggest you wait until it sells out and buy it for a discounted price, because it will NOT profit.

However, I do like the idea of "gold edition" hats. I wonder what, if any, other Gold Edition hats will come out. My vote goes to Shaggy - Gold Edition.

    Eggcentric Retextures Contest Winners!

Roblox News Egg Hunt 2013! Opening today/tomorrow.
A long time ago in a galaxy far away, I launched an egg retexture contest for the Roblox News Egg Hunt. Now some of you may be wondering why has this post taken so long; and I have a couple reasons to offer in answer to this.
    1. The egg hunt was delayed a few weeks as our lead programmaer TechTeam911 was busy with a very important exam and he wanted to release the game when it had reached the highest quality. This meant the contest winners could not be announced earlier.
    2. I too have also been extremely busy recently with revision for my 9 exams this summer, so I have been unable to post regularly to RN.

However, that's enough excuses for one day: it's time to reveal the winners of the Eggcentrix Retextures! As always, the quality of the retextures were top notch and it was difficult to narrow it down to 3 winners, but a decision was finally made! The entries chosen provided a careful balance of colour, design and creativity which is paramount when retexturing. The winners are as follows:

1st Place - Demons Heart Egg by McVisibility
    McVisibility - Demons Heart Egg
Boasting a menacing colour scheme and intriguing egg design, this entry screams flare. The frosted glass style pattern on this Fabergé egg paired with the detailed shading makes for an effective aesthetic combination. The colour of the base blending well with the main design adds a nice finishing touch.

    2nd Place - Hexagon Egg by mew1226
    Hexagon Egg
This entry features a brilliant colour scheme coupled with a detailed, eggcentric design. Making up the overall texture of the egg, the hexagons add a huge amount to this entry. The six pointed star on the front of the design adds real dimension to the egg.

3rd Place - Weaved  Fabergé Egg by rebellion666
    Weaved Faberge Egg by rebellion666

Featuring an excellent weaved design and great colour mapping, the Weaved Fabergé Egg boasts originality. The weaving looks incredibly realistic with a high level of detail, with the colours ading feel of directional lighting to the design.

So, there are our winners! A massive thank you is owed to everyone for their patience in waiting for the results and to everyone who entered in their egg retextures! There were many fantastic designs with several runners up to the winners!

The winners will be implemented into the Roblox News Egg Hunt 2013 with a unique ability created by the devious mind of TechTeam911. Each egg will come complete with a cool looking badge and prestige as these will be the rarest eggs available!

Place Review - Molten Depths Minigames

Hello everyone, PeerPants here with another place review. Today I am reviewing Molten Depths Minigames by SilentSwords. I will be talking through the different aspects of the game, so, enjoy the review!

    The Lobby

When you join the game, you're placed in the lobby. The most popular part of the lobby is the viewing area, which is a glass section sticking out of the lobby, where players who aren't participating in the current minigame can watch other players take part. The lobby also has a shop where you can buy a selection of different badges with the points earned in game.

I am now going to go through all of the different minigames available to play, and give each one a rating out of 10.

    Lucky Cages (8/10)

Lucky Cages is a really fun minigame. There are four cages, red, yellow, blue and green. Each player picks a cage to go in, and the cage doors suddenly close. One cage then falls into the lava. Players can then either choose to go to a different cage, or stay in their current one. Another cage then falls, and the process is repeated until there is only one remaining cage. The player(s) in the remaining cage receive their share of the winnings.

    Volcanic Swordplay (7/10)

The rules are simple, fight to be the last survivor. Each player is teleported to the map, and after three seconds, each player is given a sword. They must then battle to be the last player alive. The last 3 surviving players each win a share of points, with the person who was 1st collecting the most.

    Voltage Mayhem (10/10)

This minigame is really fun. A VIP controls where the lasers go, they can either move up or across. The aim is for the VIP to kill all the players, and for the players to dodge the lasers by jumping over them. If the VIP successfully kills every player, the VIP wins all the points. If players survive the lasers, the players who are still alive collect a share of points.

    Lava-Hot Battle (9/10)

Each player is given the classic battle tools, a bomb, a rocket launcher, a linked sword, a trowel and super-ball. They must then all battle it out to be the last survivor. However, there is a twist. While players fight, around them lava rises, threatening to burn them alive. So you'll need to stay away from the lava if you want to succeed in this minigame.

    Fierce Jumping (10/10)

This is probably my favourite minigame. A series of platforms appear, and you have to jump from one platform to the next, kinda like Frogger, I suppose. Anyway, you also have to avoid spikes, and last until the end of the game, or else you will fail!

    Boulder Dash (2/10, Broken)

At the time of review, this minigame isn't working. However, I played it while it was working and it was really fun! You had to dodge boulders that the VIP sent crashing down to you. If you managed to dodge all of the boulders by the end of the game, you won! If everyone died, the VIP won.

    Going Up High (8/10)

The aim of Going Up High is to click as many times as you can, more than all of the other players. The player who clicks the most, and has the biggest ball, wins the points. People in 2nd and 3rd places also get points.

    Rusty Platforms (9/10)

Rusty Platforms is another game of chance. At the start, there are lots of platforms, and one by one, they take it in turn to drop. This game requires fast reactions to win, as you need to jump away from your current platform if it is falling.

    Rating

    Gameplay 9/10
    Creativity 7/10
    Effort 10/10
    Overall 9/10

SilentSwords has done really well with this game, just a few more fixes and finishing touches would make the game perfect!
