Two Player War Tycoon Video Place Review

Now, some of you may know Roblox News staff had a meeting. One of Arb's requests was to make more video reviews. So you know what? I decided to do that! So I have an episode of my latest and first Roblox News Place Review...

But before I enter this with my hell hounds, there's one thing I have to say. I hate this game, so... so much!

This is more of a formal-moan up. And will include video with my voice in it for you to read.

Sorry about my voice being all weird today. It's one of my first times speaking in my new mic.

The game gets a 4/10 overall.

The game also recieves 1/10 on scripting, and 0/10 on building.

Mechound Hat Review

Hey ROBLOXians, I'm here with another review. This time I'm reviewing the "Mechound" hat; which I personally love. Let's go into this review!

Mechound

"Best thing about Mechound? You never have to feed him."

Mesh: The mesh is like a robotic dog (which is good, seeing as, by the name, you can tell that it's supposed to be a robotic dog), which is really cool. It has the basic features of a dog, a snout, ears, etc. That's really all I can say about the mesh, it's kinda basic. Overall, the mesh is shaped like a dog's head, which is presumably the aim of this hat, but it's too basic. 7/10.

Texture: The texture is robotic, with red, sinister looking eyes that scream death and that it wants a doggy treat. The metal texture has that terminator-looking-tinge to it, which is fantastic. It looks like the Terminator's little puppy (or dog, not sure)'s head. Because, that is a fantasy of everyone's, being the Terminator's puppy. Overall, it's an amazing texture. 10/10.

Value for Money: The price of this hat is 150 R$, I reckon that's a pretty sweet price for this hat. If anything, it should be more. Actually, I'll take that back, I think I see a angry mob of ROBLOXians running at me. But seriously, it should be more, because it is an amazing hat. This is a snag! 10/10 (Perfect).

Public Enjoyment: Let's ask Twitter for their opinions on it. You know the drill.

@J_David1999 : Bad looking, good price, etc.

@Brassrhino : Looks pretty good. Better than some of the recent items they've put out. I'd wear it. 7/10.

@Rbx_Zinc707 : Looks like my dog when I don't give her a treat.

@Ulquiorra98RBLX : Well, to me, it resembles a cyborg-Bane with a pig snout and pointy ears.

It seems to be liked by the public (or at least the people that gave me their opinions). Sorry if I couldn't put your opinions in, I got a few! 7/10.

Overall: Overall, this hat gets a 8.5/10. It has a basic mesh with a cool texture, perfect value for money, and somewhat good public enjoyment.

Thanks for reading!

Retexture Review: Chrome Ambassador!

You may be looking at this review and you may be thinking: what is alexkylerock doing? Well, just recently, I got permission from arbirator and he let me review retextures. Now, I'm not just going to review random retextures that kids post on the forums. I will review worth retextures. I will review retextures that the admins think are worthy. I am reviewing the retextures that BrightEyes and Tarabyte take and have not been published. I will tell you why they are great retextures and why they may have been rejected from publishing. Arbirator made it clear that I shouldn't do this frequently, and that I should focus on normal reviews, so if you do like these reviews, please post a comment saying "Arbirator! Let him make more of these!" or "I loved this! Please post more!". But if you don't like these please be honest and post a comment saying "I didn't really enjoy this post, maybe you shouldn't do this anymore." or "This was absolutely horrible. I. Will. Never. Read. Another. Of. Your. Posts." If you post the second one, a little piece of me will die. Haha just kidding. I just want your honest opinion. But let me get to today's review! The Chrome Ambassador!
Now you know what I personally love about retextures? They're absolutely free. You can take one and put it in your game, and wear them in game. Obviously, I won't really be mentioning the mesh in these reviews, but I mention how the mesh compliments the texture or vise versa. I also won't be mentioning value at all. I will, though, still mention outfits, and suggestions.

Texture: 10/10

This texture may look very easy to make, but coming from a real retexturers experience, this texture is a very, very complex retexture. I'm wondering how GeckoGuy456 pulled this off. See how right below the eye, it dips down? That shows great depth and many retexturers don't show depth in their retextures. This retexture shows great depth. See how the light shies right across the cheek up to the top of the head? That shows depth too. It is amazing how he pulled this off. The colors compliment each other extremely well. I honestly love the color of the eye. I would've never thought that the color purple would compliment the skin color, and for some reason, it does. It just does. If you look at the top picture, the texture wraps around the mesh perfectly. If you look at the nose and mouth, it almost looks realistic (if aliens were real). The ONLY reason I thought that this retexture didn't get published is that someone in the ROBLOX HQ probably didn't think that this mesh wouldn't sell well (like if they made it limited, it wouldn't sell). This mesh isn't popular. The texture is perfect though. It deserves a perfect 10/10.

Outfits: 5/10

Now obviously, since it's not published, I can't just go to catalog heaven and search "Chrome Ambassador" and put it on. I put this in my place and took off my hats and put this on. Now, like I said before, this mesh isn't that well known. It doesn't look that appealing either. The texture is amazing, I give it that, but I doubt many people would buy this. I wouldn't, not because of the texture, but because of the way it looks on me. Honestly, I don't think this hat would really go with anything either. What really makes me kinda wanna throw up is the nose placement. It looks like a clowns nose. The head is also really big and pointy, looks like a pinhead. I don't really like this mesh and I don't think it really looks nice. But, because he couldn't do anything about this, I can't deduct too much from it.

Suggestions:

I honestly can't suggest anything to him. This texture is absolutely flawless. If he wanted to get his retextures published, though, he should probably choose a more "appealing" mesh to retexture. Other than that, I can't really suggest anymore.

That is my first retexture review by alexkylerock. Be sure to follow me on twitter!

A Trailer Contest?

What is this madness? Yes, there is a ROBLOX contest! Woo! I'm here to explain this trailer contest a little bit more to those who don't understand what it's about and what is required from you. Alright, so ROBLOX, after years of not making another video contest, has finally decided to make one. But, is it free like all of the other ones?

Well, there is a fee of 1k ROBUX just to make a trailer. But, there is a 50% discount on these trailers, so from now until the contest ends, there is a fee of half off, let me do the math, 500 ROBUX is the new fee. I guess it's worth it if you think about it because there is a grand prize of 22k ROBUX ($150 USD?) (That USD value is just an estimate BTW) and a trophy of some kind. With those prizes you'd make a very good profit. So, how do I enter you may ask?

This is the easiest way to enter. All you have to do, is publish your video to your ROBLOX place and you are automatically entered! But, that only happens during the time of the contest. I've seen some great trailers lately, including one from our very own Staff member Ulquiorra98. Let me tell you what my thoughts are about this contest and if you should enter or not.

So, my thoughts are that they shouldn't have made a fee to enter. It's not much, but for some people (like myself) it is. Older contests would have no fee at all. Negative one for them. The prize sure makes up for this fee. I'm wondering, why was the prize never this much before? Back then, we would get simple hats, now we get currency? Great! But, not for me. Q.Q Anyway, enough about me, they for sure have made a better system out of this than ever before. Enjoy that very much.

Do I recommend you entering? GO FOR IT. IT'S WORTH IT.

Thanks to regilord who told me to cover the trailer contest via Twitter.
By the way, this is my return post, so yay?
I was gone for a few weeks, few know why.
Let's just keep it at that.

Thanks for reading, Dx.

Gear Review: Dreamwalker’s Dagger

It’s been a while but finally I got the time to write this article (I blame School). Well this is my first actual post as a full time staff member, It’s official, I am now an official member of the Roblox News!  I have very happy when I found out, and I want to thank everyone who read and commented on my posts!  Thank you!  Anyway, now let’s get on topic and talk about this amazing dagger.

Abilities/Effects: 9/10

I personally love this dagger, you can click for a basic flick like any sword or you can double click and slide, it looks almost as if you float really fast in one direction, An example of where you would have to use this ability is when somebody is running away from you, you can double click on them and you quickly zoom towards them which helps you kill them a lot quicker.  Each click on a person does approximately 70 damage, I find it’s great in combat and seems to be more of a sword then a dagger but it is still an epic weapon!  Overall I give this a 9/10 for it’s doing lots of damage for a dagger.

Appearance: 10/10

This Dagger is by far the coolest looking dagger on ROBLOX, It seems to be almost like a pirate sword and a medieval sword at the same time, the handle seems to be made of from hand carved wood by a pirate or warrior, It also could be like a carved gold or a metallic materiel, The blade is just like any other sword or dagger blade nice sharp and metal, I also found something very interesting with this sword, it has like red smoke or fog around the blade.  Overall I give this a 10/10 for being a great looking dagger.

Pricing: 8/10

The price of this dagger then it originally sold was a great price for a strong and powerful dagger, it sold for 6k… Today it sells from anywhere from 20-40k.  The people who bought this for original price when it first went on sale in 2011, they made lots of profit; they made approximately 10k or more.  Overall I give this dagger an 8/10 for great profit and a great original price.

Overall: 9.5/10

This dagger was great; there was nothing wrong with it, diffidently worth the money!  Anyways, till next time, CYA!

Multi Minigames Place Review

First of all, sorry about the delay on posts this week, I have been quite busy making ROBLOX games and Java games. But I'm back! And I am now a full time staff member at Roblox News.

The game I'm reviewing today isn't really possible to get an image of. But I have played it, and I love it. The game I am reviewing today is called "Multi Minigames". Multi Minigames is great, as the title states, there are multi minigames. There may only be 24 minigames, but those minigames are great. All of them are well scripted, and well created. The creator must have thought a lot about this. And was planning it for a very long time.

The game has a great lobby, it's very interactive with other users in the place, the lobby consists of things like buttons and avalanches to keep the users happy during their small intermission. So you can never get bored! When you enter a minigame, each has a good script, most are really fun, but some can be super super fun! From avalanches of snow to fighting each other with lasers this game consists of great fun for you and your friends.

The scripting here is great, it has a very nice code in the minigames, I have no doubt about it. You may not know it. But the game would be very, very confusing code to most ROBLOX Users. Some users would understand it very well, like the creator of course..

Now, when we talk about design, this game is full of it. The trailer before you enter the game from YouTube is great, it has a great visual view on the game from the creator's view. It also has some great text that makes the trailer stand out making you want to come in the game so much. You enter!

Scripting: 10/10
Couldn't have been better my friend, couldn't have been better.

Tools: 10/10
Half of them are made by the gods- ROBLOX!

Development: 10/10
I have had no arguments with the development, we're like two peas in a pod!

Problems: 10/10
No problems at all!!!!

Difficulty: Hard to say
Some are easy, some are had. Some are fighting those epical users at ROBLOX who can fight like ninjas!

Front Cover: 8/10
Almost perfection, great view of the game, great video!

Fun Filling: AMAZING!
I have so much fun at this game!!

Thought: 10/10
Great, great thought!

Overall: 9.9999
Great, I love it so much!

Suggestions:

  • More minigames when you have the time so I can game to the end of the night.
This game was reviewed on July the 4th 2012, the time of this review was 19:45.

At the time of the review Multi Minigames had 220,912 place visits and had been favorited 6,066 times.

Gear Review: Anti-Ballistics Force Field

     Gear Review: Anti-Ballistics Force Field

Hey there guys, Ulquiorra98 here with a long overdue gear review. Sorry about that, by the way, it's just that life's been a bit hectic with high school about to start for me, and... wait, what am I blabbering about my personal life for? That's not what you came here for, is it? No, you came here for a good ol' fashioned gear review, which is exactly what you're going to get. So, without further ado, let's head on down to the review!

Abilities/Effects:

Now, the first thing, or word rather, that came to mind while using this specific gear was , "Wow." After 5 minutes of testing this gear, the only word that came to mind was, "Wow." I have to admit, out of all the gear I've seen (and I've seen a fair few) this one has to be one of the best. It's everything you expect out of a forcefield, and then some. Not only does this item deflect most projectiles from ranged weapons, but it sends them hurtling back towards your enemy with a package full of 50 additional damage points delivered on site. You have to admit, that is pretty impressive. One thing users with this gear might want to remember is to, as far as possible, be standing on a flat surface when using this item. Otherwise, people can sneak in underneath the forcefield and attack you. I give this one a 10/10.

Appearance:

Well, it's nothing really special. But then again, forcefield's are meant to be simple. I do like the light blue honeycomb pattern across the gear, which expands with the missile-deflecting semi-sphere. It gets a 9/10 in my opinion.

Pricing:

The Anti-Ballistics Force Field is listed in the Catalog at a price of 500 ROBUX, which seems a decent price to pay. The only downside is that this item is available only to Builder's Club members, which is shame, as it's such an amazing gear, and anyone with the money should have the opportunity to buy a copy for them self. I'll have to give it an 8/10.

Overall: 9/10

Place Review: LEGO Hero Factory: Breakout

LEGO Hero Factory: Breakout_Image
Hey guys, this is regilord finally finding time to post on this wonderful labor day weekend. Today I am reviewing the Lego sponsorship place: LEGO Hero Factory: Breakout. Just like the Kre-o sponsership, instead of creating contest places, the Roblox team created a place where there is a competition for specific prizes. The Hero Factory competition prizes are the Arachnix Drone and the Furno's Aquajet Pack and Plasma Gun. Of course like always, you earn these by getting a certain amount of points on each team. You earn these points by collecting one or more of the six items scattered around the playing field; you may also earn points, and the possibility of a badge (Saboteur), by destroying one or more of the enemies six collection items. Of course besides earning these points you must win the the match to earn the badges and the gears.

Building: 10/10
Shedletsky asked for futuristic buildings from users and they provided! I really like the building because it is a collective build from the community that was hand picked by John Shedletsky. About a month ago Shedletsky posted on Iron Noob forums asking for futuristic buildings that looked professional, yet he provided no reason. Eventually it was released that it would be used in a city for a Roblox contest, yet still no one knew what the contest was. Users were quite shocked to hear that LEGO was being sponsored by ROBLOX. This just goes to show that Roblox has come a long way from not letting users even speak the word Lego.

Scripting: 10/10
There is a lot of scripting in this place that goes very unnoticed. Of course there is the obvious in your face scripts such as the weapons, GUI's, and item health bars, but there is also all of the new animation scripts contained in these strange looking characters. Such animations include running, an animation when you hit the ground and bend your knees, and of course a jumping animation. All of these really impressed me. Hopefully these new animations are released to the rest of the Roblox world and are applicable with all of the bodies 1.0-3.0.

Gameplay: 8/10
It is an extremely fun game but it is also very aggravating. The one and only weapon of each team is a ray gun that when it hits you it does not do any damage, rather it knocks you back at least halfway across the map until you hit a solid object. This can be really annoying when you just approaching the last item your team needs and it has only a little life left and an enemy knocks you back and destroys it. These guns also make it difficult to do my favorite thing, sabotaging. The knock back also affects the items when you try to destroy them, sending them sometimes straight at an apposing team member. But on the flip side you can also shoot their items far away from them. The game is really fun for me because it takes a good strategy.

Prizes and Badges: 10/10
The prizes aren't very hard at all to get if you've played a few rounds and you know what your doing, but they are very nice prizes that are being awarded and they are quite simple to achieve. I must say I myself have really come to favor the Arachnix Drone as it is very powerful and fun to watch being used. But I really like the badges because some of them are quite difficult to achieve and that's what keeps players coming back and trying to get better to be able to get them. I myself do not have all of them and I've spent a very long time there collectively. Roblox did a good job making easy and hard badges that are both fun and difficult to earn.
Arachnix DroneFurno's Aquajet Pack and Plasma Gun

Popularity in the Community: 8/10
I wasn't the only one there for over two hours! It's a highly addicting game but many users only come for the prizes and or badges. Some of these users such as I was thought only of the prizes and came in for just that and realized it was an amazing game. Others only wanted the prizes and seconds after achieving them immediately left the place, never to return. Some were just newbies and tried it out as their first ever Roblox game. And others came and went as they saw it too hard. Another group of people that were like me were determined to earn all the badges, and some did, but many of them cursed to the sky and shouted "I'll be back and I'll get them all!!".

Popularity to Me: 10/10
It was wonderful! I really loved this place and I really hope it  is not taken down. It is by far the best Roblox built contest place I have ever seen, maybe second to last years paintball map. It was simple and complex, but best of all it was made mostly by Robloxians. I absolutely love the fact that Shedletsky came to the community and asked for them to build to help contribute to this place. It completely amazes me how quickly the community jumped up to help and give to the rest of the community. If I had the chance and the time, I would gladly return many, many times.

Gear Review: Psychokenisis Glove

I chose this gear to review because it really stuck out to me. The colors and the mesh really stuck out. And then I read the description and that kinda puzzled me. So I decided to try this out. It's actually a really cool gear and if you want to sneak up behind others and hit them without them knowing, it's just a great gear to use! You can find the gear here.
Abilities/Powers: 10/10

This glove is very unique and fits in the "Mind Control" gear week (if you didn't know, last week, ROBLOX was releasing "Mind Control" gear) perfectly. This gear has the power to pick up your enemies and throw them and it has the power to pick up objects. When you first click the left-click, 5 rocks will appear around you. Then you click again, your glove will shoot a beam out of it and all of the rocks will follow that beam. So if you wanted to fire rocks at your enemies, this is the gear to go! The reload time is very minimum so you don't have to wait very long to hit them again!

Mesh: 8/10

This mesh looks a whole lot like a gear released a while ago. That's right, if you didn't already figure this out, this gear and the Galactic Forcefield Glove almost look identical. But you can obviously tell that it isn't the exact same mesh because on the Forcefield Glove, there is a sphere in the palm of the glove and a sphere right above it. They look very similar though! One thing about the mesh that really bugged me is the size of it. It's supposedly a "glove" and gloves go around your hand, but this glove wraps around my entire ROBLOXian's arm. Though the mesh is very unique, it will be deducted points for this.

Texture: 10/10

I honestly loved this texture for some odd reason. I have no clue why. I just feel like "blue" and "psycho" go together. I definitely would've liked it more if the texture had a "rainbow" effect to it, cause then obviously you would know that you're a psycho! But this texture is almost flawless. I love the way the blue curves on every finger, especially the thumb, and if you zoomed in closely, you could see very small details on this texture. You could see that there is a panel with an outlet, telling you that this thing needs to be charged. With all the details, this texture deserves a flawless, 10/10.

Value for your money: 10/10

This gear is priced at a whopping 750R$. For some of us viewers, that's pretty expensive. But if you're one of those people who have 50kR$ in your account atm and you have nothing to do with it, go ahead and buy this and go around hitting noobs with it. They won't know what hit them! I would buy this but I don't have the time to play around with gear. If you just want to buy this to find all the small, little, minuscule details that ROBLOX put on the texture, then be my guest. Or if you just wanna be that jerk (lol just kidding) that goes around spawnkilling everyone with your favorite gear, be my guest. This gear is an all time favorite for me. But if you're like me, and you're kinda bugged by the fact that the mesh is too big, then this may not be a good value for your money. Or if you're just a LMaDer and you just hate wasting your money on non-limiteds, then this probably isn't a good value for your money. Overall, this deserves a 10/10 in this category.

Suggestions:

1. Make texture rainbow

2. When you spawn rocks, make it so you can spawn noobs too.

3. Be able to LITERALLY take control of your enemies (through their ROBLOXian).

And that wraps up my Psychokenisis Glove review! Be sure to follow me on twitter!

Journey to the Center of the Earth Cart Ride Review

Cart rides are infamous for being one of the most boring, and yet popular types of places ever. However, there are a few of them out there that aren't completely awful. This is one of them.

Gameplay 7/10
Basically, you get in a cart and go down a track. It's surprisingly fun because you go at ridiculous speeds but there aren't any twists or turns throughout the ride. Also, sometimes your cart flies off the track.

Effort 9/10
The ride is surprisingly well made. Most cart rides are completely bland and boring. This map has a ton of brilliantly C-framed parts in it and is very fun to ride on.

Creativity 6/10
There have been a lot of cart ride places. Most of them however are way worse than this, so kudos to you for your effort.
Overall 7.5/10
Suggestions
  • Add some twists and turns throughout the ride
  • Make it so the cart doesn't fly off.
  • Make it so that a large jalopeno pepper appears at the end of the track and explodes.
If you want your place reviewed simply contact Banjobug on twitter or send me a private message on ROBLOX. The next post could be about your place! I'll be glad to give you ideas on your place and help make it better. Also, if you find a place that is absolutely awful and on the front page send me a PM and I might make a RANT about it!

Also, you should follow me on twitter even if you don't have a RANT or review request! Sometimes I invite my followers to go to places with me to help review them.
