Gear Friday Review: Easter Bunnies and Chickens

Happy Easter everybody! This week's gears were for the season of Easter. Although... I have no idea what chickens have to do with Easter (but Easter bunny gears are acceptable of course).
Update: I am told that CHICKENS LAY EGGS. Why didn't I think of that? I'm stupid. Wow. I am ashamed. Anyways, moving on to the gears.

This week we got 3, Wild Bunny Horde Attack, Bunneh Blade, and Crazy Chicken Bow. None of these were limited, and the two bunny items went off sale on Easter (4/20), and the chicken gear went off sale on the 21st. Anyways, time for the review.

Gear Review - Egg hunt 2014 Gears

With another year of eggs everywhere, we get the fair share of helping hands presented to us in the catalog, so today I will talk about the 2014 Egg Hunt gears, are they worth it? Or are they a waste of robux? Find out with me, IceFang, right now :)

Singity Singity Song Gears

Last week's gears and the gears before won't be mentioned here because I was busy and didn't get a chance to write articles for them, so I'll just be starting back off from this week.

Yes, I know. Nobody cares about these. Egg hunt is coming, all you want is egg hunt posts. Well, as arbirator holds a knife to my back, I am writing this to actually get back in the mood of, well, writing regular posts now that I've been away from the site doing stuff. This post is late because of the egg hunt and I've been busy.

So apparently the gears this week are using audio even though audio has been out for years and I don't see why it's just in use now for song gears, although It's apparently music weekend or some random thing like usual. 4 gears were released, none were limited which doesn't really surprise me. They all use songs and stuff and are actually pretty stupid. The gears include the Red Rock Star Guitar, Music Blaster, The Drop, and Sleepy Song Bird. Also, like the past few weeks, these gears were created by scripter, Luckymaxer.

Gear Friday Review: Pi Day

Happy 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105... Day! Oops, I mean,
Happy Pi Day! March 14th, or 3/14, is a day dedicated to pi, or pie, or tarte, or whatever your country calls it. So what better day than this to release tons of gears dedicated to.. well, pie! Wait, what? Oh, it's only the 7th? Well.. why is ROBLOX making pi-related things a week before Friday...? Well, it's actually Pi Month, 3/14, or March 2014, so it's not JUST pi day this year, kinda neat, eh?

The pies released this Friday, erm, I mean, the gears released this Friday each had something to do with pie. Whether it was shooting pies (or the occasional pi symbol at you), flinging pies through the air using the power of rage, or even turning your foes into pie, this Gear Friday's got it all!

Gear Friday Review: Mardi Gras

So this week's gears are all Mardi Gras themed to celebrate the upcoming Mardi Gras holiday celebrated down in New Orleans at the start of Lent. It's a fantastic celebration apparently, I've never been, but I have experienced people throwing beads at me off of floats. Close enough.. right?

Five gears were actually released this Friday, four of which were related to the topic, and then there was a Hot Wheels Truck which basically came out for no reason at all and was completely random, but I guess Hot Wheels bought ROBLOX now so all ROBLOXians will be turning into trucks or something. Oh well, faster transportation.

Gear Friday Review: ITS BACK!

Yeah, Gear Fridays are back! We got two gears on Friday last week, but I'm pretty sure that Gear Fridays have returned, seeing as how we got the usual 3 nonlimited, 1 limited gear thing this week. This is a really lucky thing, because I started to think that they would be lost forever like Tix Tuesdays. So yeah, I'm very excited with all the gears, because luckily, they're all amazing. The gears this week were randomly themed, but ah well. Two swords, a mace, and an axe. Luckily, we did get a limited, which was one of the swords, but I'll get into that later.

President's Day Sale: Days 3, 4 and 5

Aye, I'm back to sum up the end of this awful sale. Days 3 and 4 were full of nothing good, except for 2 things, and Day 5 was full of nothing until later at night, so people in some different time zones missed out on it, but there was nothing good, except for a nice retexture by TREVOR818730.

President's Day Sale: Day 1

Ello, pbjms here to review the first day of this amazing sale! The first day of the President's Day Sale was filled with, er, well, nothing very good. At all. It was Valentines day, so of course we got some Valentines stuff, then later in the day the sale started with some discounts, but no limiteds.

Valentines Day
Valentine's Day Cap 2014Heart Break CakeLovestruck RobotRose LauncherLove to Party Shades
Valentines day was filled with non-limiteds, seeing as how all of the other valentines items came out days before. Not much came out, but we did get the Valentine's Day Cap 2014, which is a nice addition to the collection of many other caps. We also got a Heart Break Cake, which is an amazing gear. You can throw the cake at your foe and they become madly in love with you, pressing it by vomiting all over the place then throwing their arms up and doing some weird dance, lol. To continue with the Valentines hats, we got the Lovestruck Robot, which is pretty ugly. The second gear that came out was a nice little Rose Launcher, which shoots roses like that Candy Cane Launcher thing, but the roses apparently have invisible thorns that do extra damage. The last item was the Love to Party Shades, created by everybody's favorite ROBLOX News creator, Arbirator. The shades are amazing, though they were a bit overpriced at 1,000 Robux. Oh well.

Discounts
Commander Crow's WingsAmerica's SweetheartDarkAge Ninja SwordpackExponential Rocket LauncherGuardia in ExileSnake Sniper
When you think of a sale, you think of discounts. Well we got discounts, and I'm very disappointed with the community as to what exactly got discounted. Commander Crow's Wings was the first item to be discounted, from 750 Robux to 325. Eh, not bad, but I don't like the hat so no thanks. Next discounted was America's Sweetheart... wow. Just wow. 50 Robux to 10 Robux, SUCH A DEAL. Whoever voted for this to be discounted is just... ew. Next up we got the DarkAge Ninja Swordpack, okay. Popular item, went from 200 Robux to 100 Robux, this I approve, kind of. Snake Sniper and Exponential Rocket Launcher are two useless gears that I'm not even going to bring up because they come back basically every sale.. Last to be put on sale at a discount was Guardia in Exile, inferring that the whole community doesn't already have this. Oh well, it was 50 Tix, so at least something this sale was in tix.

Limiteds
Golden Headphones
I lied. There was one. Golden headphones were originally 9,500 Robux, and apparently aren't forgotten since they were voted for limited, even though, like 90% of items that go limited nowadays, it instantly failed. It's now selling for 8,000 Robux, which I find kind of hilarious.

Other
Sparkle Time Cheese Hat
The Sparkle Time Cheese is a big no. A huge, giant no. It's not even funny how no this is. It was 2,500 Robux and timed for 12 hours. It's ugly, the mesh is gross, low polygon count, it's just no. It's ugly and overpriced. The ONE THING that I love about this is the description, so props to Brighteyes for this masterpiece: "What happens when Sparkle Time and Cheese Time are the same time? This."

Overall
Day one wasn't great, no amazing things back on sale or discounted, no good items except for Arb's beautiful shades, and nothing good in the limited department. Within the coming days I expect to see some good limiteds, and that nice ol' Lord of the Federation retexture coming out soon.

Gear Review: Hockey Stick

So, I guess the Winter Games is ROBLOX's excuse to actually continue making gears, seeing as how there's been.. er, one gear..? Anyways, that gear is a hockey stick, or, as ROBLOX likes to call it, Hockey Stick.

Hockey Stick
"Shoot pucks at your foes and check them into submission."

Appearance:

Mesh: 4/5
So basically the mesh is just a hockey stick, which isn't very surprising. Like.. every hockey stick, there is a long wooden pole and a curved "blade" that you hit pucks with. Yet.. for some reason, the asset design team don't think that ROBLOXians need a nice comfy grip to actually hold the stick with. Shame on them. People are getting splinters, all because of a lack of rubber grips.
--------------------------------------------------------
Texture: 3/5
The texture is awful. The straight stick is red with random white stripes, under that is blue tape like most hockey sticks have, then the "blade" thing is just.. no. It's mainly red with yellow stripes.. but.. there is a "ROBLOX Winter Games" logo. Okay. I'm fine with tha- OH GOD. The other side. It's backwards and upside-down. A fantastic (heh) texturing job, that's what this is.
(So that's 7/10 for those who can't add.)

Ability: 10/10

Swing: 4/5
The first attack, done by clicking with the left mouse, is a normal swinging attack. You hit the puck, and it goes flying, hits your enemy if you can actually aim well enough, and knocks them down, doing 50% damage. It's a good attack, though there are two issues with it. First of all, if you jump and click in mid-air, you still swing normally, but the puck is flying in the air. Secondly, the puck goes on the ground for a while, then BAM. Liftoff. Watch as your puck soars above the ground randomly!
--------------------------------------------------------
Check: 6/5
For those of you (like myself) who don't play hockey, a check is basically hitting your 'enemy' with your stick, or just holding up your stick to block a puck or something. And no, it will not kill your rivals in two hits in real life. In ROBLOX, checking is just hitting your opponent with your stick after charging forward, which, like the Swing, does 50% damage and knocks your opponent down. "But pb, why did you give it a 6/5?" Well, when checking, you will charge forward about 20-30 studs.. but.. you won't be affected by gravity.. so.. you can get across large gaps because of this, and it can be used in many games as an escape tactic.

Price: 9/10

I don't really have much to say about the price. It's 250 R$... it's ability is amazing. Could it be cheaper? Of course. Is everything perfect? Nope. Except for me. And maybe arb (but mostly me.)

Overall: 8.5/10
To sum up this post, buy the stick if you have enough robux. It's most likely going off-sale after the winter games.

~Thanks for reading!~

Gear Friday Overview: Sleepy Gear. Yeah, only one gear.

Woohoo! Another Gear Friday! Finally! After so many months of waiting! Wait, what? Oh. There's only one gear. And it's a wand... that makes people sleep... Wow. "Sleeping" gears, I can easily see tons of other gears coming out, but I guess a bunch of ugly hats will do instead. Eh, the sleepy theme came with a face too, so that's okay. Faces are good. One gear on a Friday is bad though. Eh, I guess none would be worse.

"You're getting very sleepy! Put your nearby foes to sleep for a short while."
Appearance: 8/10
Okay, for a pretty terrible gear, it looks okay. It's just a normal wand with a brown hilt, followed by a shiny orange gem thing, followed by a grey twisty thing, followed by a rock with a moon on it. Okay. Not that special. I mean, it's better than some other texture's and meshes we've been seeing lately that are totally low-polygon (you can see triangles in the mesh because it's not smoothed out, examples include Halloween Gift ribbons and other hats).

Ability: 3/10
If there was a ROBLOX dictionary where you look up a word and get a specific item relating to that word, this item would be under "useless." You pretty much just shoot out sparkles which legitimately go 5 studs up, curve down, and land about 10 studs away from you. As far as I know from Harry Potter, magic doesn't fling up and curve down. Terrible aim. Oh, and then when you actually hit somebody, you do damage for some reason (every though it's a sleep wand). Oh, and your enemy doesn't even sleep, the admins just took the lazy way out and made it so they couldn't move, but could still jump. I don't know about you, but I've never seen a sleeping person jump.

Price: 2/10
It's 400 Robux. That is totally insane. The gear isn't even useful, and it's priced at that? Wow. I mean, I'm excited that we got a new gear on a Friday night, but this gear is kind of pathetic.

Overall: 4/10
Eh, it's the looks that really saved this gear. Besides the appearance, this gear is awful. Just awful.

Gear Overview: Bright Friday Weekend

Hello! Pbjms here. After my long absence from the site, I have gotten a new laptop with a working keyboard. So yeah, I'm  back. So, It's time to continue writing my Gear Friday Overviews, seeing as how there was finally a few gears made - I mean, It's a sale, so there had to be.. right? Only two gears are out so it's not a full gear Friday, but it's better than nothing. The gears are the Light Face Melting Guitar, published on Friday night, and Sword of the Bright Knight, published Sunday afternoon.

Bright-Friday-Sale

Yes, I know, by now you've probably skipped the above paragraph and are saying "But there was already an overview of the sale!" This is just focused on the gears, and there was no notification focused on the gears, so, I'm using that. Anyway, time for the review.

Light Face Melting Guitar
Light Face Melting Guitar
That heavenly sound that will bring the house (and people's faces) down.
I have absolutely no idea what the point of this is, seeing as how there already is a Face Melting Guitar. This one, unlike the other, is limited. It was 300 R$, which is a bit less than the original, and raised to about 900 R$. I mean, that's some nice profit there, but it would ultimately be a waste of money to buy, seeing as how there is already a face melting guitar.. and it does the same exact thing. (Price: 8.5/10)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's ability is, well, the same as the other guitar. You change the pitch of the sound, and notes using the different keys that are on a GUI placed on the side of your screen. Much like the other guitar, after spamming some keys and making a nonsense of sounds, anybody around you will have their face slowly lower ("melt off"). It's really useless, and for the price of 300 R$ +, it's not worth it. (Ability: 5/10)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time to get down to the only thing good about this guitar - the appearance. It's mesh is the same exact thing as the other guitar, but it looks like a nice electric guitar. It's body is white with blue lightning bolt things, and has a long brown neck like most guitars do. It's pretty nice, though. I mean, I wouldn't play it, but if I knew how I would (and melting off the faces of my enemies would be great). (Appearance: 9/10)
Overall:  7.5/10

Sword of the Bright Knight
Sword of the Bright Knight
For the strong, for the weak, for justice! This sword has multiple attack modes and does 20 damage points per lunge.
So, this sword is just pretty much another sword that has no special ability, isn't limited, and has practically zero demand. It's priced at 500 R$, which is an alright price, I guess. It really should be less, though, as it is absolutely nothing special. All it does is... well, I'll get to that in a second. (Price: 7.5/10)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said directly above, this does nothing special. It has three different attacks, a normal swing, a spin attack, and a jump attack. Each has no bonus effect, really. They all do about 20% damage. It's pretty stupid and useless, really, as there are TONS of other gears to buy instead of this, if you're only looking for ability, of course. (Ability: 7/10)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The appearance is the only good part about this gear. It has a shiny blade, with a shiny handle that has black stripes on it. There is a blue gem toward the center, which really looks nice combined with the whole "Bright" themed. If it wasn't for the awful price and terrible ability, this sword would actually be pretty decent. (Appearance: 9/10)
Overall:  8/10

Overall: 7.75/10

The gears weren't that bad, but they weren't good either. Oh well, ROBLOX made up with it with some really nice hats like the shaggy, squid, and kleos helmet.

Bright Friday Sale Ongoing Overview

Image from the Roblox Blog
Welcome to Roblox's version of the Black Friday sale. I've decided to cover this one myself. The items thus far:

Items on sale (Not going over these in detail. They already exist, and have had their price reduced. Bolded means that it is a new item that I will review):
Tweedsuit's Neon Pink Fedora, Frobow the Sad Clown, Neon Green Animal Hoodie, Mohelmet, Ivory Cat Scarf.

Bright Fighter: 100 Robux, Limited

"There's a lotta darkness out there. Someone's gotta take the reigns of justice and bring the light."
Not a bad hat, in my opinion. This limited, with an original cost of 100 robux, has really nowhere to go but up. With it's 1500 copies sold, it won't exactly be rocketing to space with profit. I'd expect it to max out at 400 robux, maybe hit 420 with some luck. After a few days it'll be in the 200-300s.

Not a bad mesh or texture, in my opinion. Looks (kind of) childish? If you snagged this at it's original price, even if it wasn't limited, I would say it was worth it. If it was more than 100 robux, that's a different story. It seems like it would make for some interesting hat combinations.

Worth it if original buyer.

Neon Green Animal Hoodie: 100 Robux
Neon Green Animal Hoodie
"Show them your wild side in the neon hood!"
Another decent hat to kick off Bright Friday. Also 100 robux, it is the counterpart of the original Red Animal Hoodie. This is a really nice hat for a pretty cheap price.

Worth it.

Mohelmet: 250 Robux, Timer (Expired)
Mohelmet
"Keeping your mohawk fresh - even when you're ridin'."
The third hat to be released, this one is on a 24 hour timer. Strange colors, in my opinion, and it looks like it would be strange on a Roblox character. I don't think it would fit the head too well. I have to say, this one looks a bit childish too. Its 250 robux price is ridiculous.
**Update** It managed to rake in 981 sales. I see no profit in this.
Not worth it.

Ivory Cat Scarf: 1,000 Robux, Timer (Expired)
Ivory Cat Scarf
"Perfect for Wall Street or Main Street! *No virtual cats were harmed in the making of this virtual cat scarf."
This hat has a very nice mesh. It's a good scarf with a realistic texture. It could be combined with lots of hats easily, like most scarfs. But the price? 1,000 robux. In my opinion, if it's more than 500 robux and not limited or on a timer, it's not worth it (unless it's pretty darn awesome). Then again, some people buy solely for looks.
**Update** 395 were sold. Should this go limited, it has potential.

Worth it.

W's Top Hat: 4,500 Robux, Timer (Expired)
W's Top Hat
"The brightest top hat around. You won't find a hat like this anywhere else."
This hat went on a timer for just one hour. It had an original price of 4,500 robux. Don't be completely fooled by how it looks, it's even better in-game. The extremely bright green does ruin some potential for combining it with other hats, but you could throw on that Ivory Cat Scarf with some shades. With 516 sold, the price of 4.5k robux is too high for it not to fail. If you are looking for profit, this hat isn't for you. And again, if you want it for looks?

Worth it (only if for looks).

Light Face Melting Guitar: 300 Robux, Limited
Light Face Melting Guitar
"That heavenly sound that will bring the house (and people's faces) down."

The first gear to be released, it looks great. The mesh is nice and the texture is great. At 300 robux, being an original buyer would be a good deal in my opinion. 1000 were sold, but this would only start to be a problem if it costed more. If you can snag this at a low price, try to do so, but I know I wasn't able. Overall?
**Update** Currently, this is selling for 848 robux, 3 days after it was released.

Worth it (for looks and profit).

Cyan Equinox: 100 Robux, Limited
Cyan Equinox
"That makes even less sense than Rainbow Equinox!?!"
There were 3,500 copies released of this equinox. It is painfully bright in-game, and I found it extremely hard to put together a hat combo for (see my profile for what I came up with). It's currently bouncing around at about 400 robux, which is pretty good for it's massive number sold. The looks are off-putting, but the profit is promising.

Worth it if you have spare cash.

Angel Eyes: 400 Robux

Angel Eyes     The Angel Eyes look...strange. The lenses are poorly made (are those white spots clouds...? Reflected light...?). The thingy that goes back and rests on your ears whose name I cannot remember is also poorly made. For 400 robux...?

Not worth it.

Open Mind Cap: 25 Robux
Open Mind Cap     If not for the low price, I would recommend that nobody bought this at all. The fact that it is 25 robux and there have been only 1,200 sales as of the moment should tip you off. There isn't much to say about this one, it just seems like they got an "OPEN" sign off of Google Images and pasted it on to the texture. If you think it's your style, go for it. I honestly can't say this isn't worth it at a cheap price. So my conclusion will be this:

It's a hat.

Lime Green Shaggy: 500 Robux, Limited

Lime Green Shaggy     One of the bigger items in the sale, it's one of the types that make you want to flip a table for missing it. Even though 1,000 were sold, Shaggy's have a reputation. It immediately began to sell for 2,000-3,000 and continues to at this moment. If you were able to snatch both the Lime Green Shaggy and W's Top Hat, I'm sure they would make a nice combination. I think it's pretty obvious that this one was...

Worth it.

More to be added as the sale continues.

Gear Review: Hallo-Cycle

Hello! Pbjms here with another gear review. Sorry for no major "reviewing" posts lately, as the Halloween Events of BLOXtober have really been inspiring me to write about them. Anyway, along with the Halloween Event's release came a near gear to help transportation - the Hallo-Cycle. I'm going to set up this article a bit differently, just as a little heads up so nobody gets confused.

Hallo-Cycle
"Hey! You are on fire! Use this cycle to speed through ROBLOX's gigantic Halloween level"

So, over the weekend during the Halloween Event's BETA testing, ROBLOX released a gear to help transportation. It is another motorcycle gear, which has only one main point; to help you get around the BLOXtober 2013's event faster. It's use in any other game is quite pointless in my opinion as you can get cheaper alternatives. In the released version of the event, it usually lags very much, and flings into the sky, but hey - nothing's perfect.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cycle is priced at 999 R$, which is an odd price, really. Why not just 1,000 R$, you may ask. Well the answer is simple: I don't know. Anyway, for a regular motorcycle that really just helps your walkspeed, it's too much. But, under the circumstances that it helps you get around the event much quicker, the price is more reasonable.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The look of the big wheel is VERY cool. It is shaped like a normal motorcycle that we may see out on the streets during our normal lives, but the texture is what makes it stand out. The metal of it is orange like a pumpkin, while the seat and handles are purple. There is fire on the sides, and a large engine underneath. The cool thing in game is the shear amount of fire that comes out of the back of the bike. It speeds up the transportation speed of the ROBLOXian letting them get somewhere in less than a 1/4 of the time it would take them to walk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you were to ask me, and you really look forward to collecting every BLOXikin this event, this motorcycle is a must-have. It will help you SO much, because you know, walking on ROBLOX for hours isn't really the best thing to do in your free time.

~8.75/10~
