Triple Halloween Madness Hat Reviews #2: Purple Perfection!

Purple Perfection

Hello Readers! As part two of the Tripple Halloween Madness Hat Reviews, today I will be reviewing the Purple Perfection! Some might not say it is a Halloween hat, but it's got the colors so why not?

Mesh: 7/10
Simple. Very Simple. It could have been done better, but I guess it fits. The mesh on the very rim of the bottom slightly messes with the texture, but I think I'm the only one to notice. The rest of the mesh is not that bad.

Texture: 9/10
"Why so high? It's just a basic purple pattern with a green stripe."
Well, this is one of those hats where you can completely change the theme of the hat with a  retexture. The possibilities are almost endless. Make it a regular sun hat, Christmas themed, winter themed, a different Halloween theme, crimson theme, anything! All you retexture artists start making something cool with this!

Money Value: 7/10
This 250R$ hat is ok, not the best wide-rimmed hat but it's not bad on the texture side. I would like to see some artists retexture this into a Christmas one.

Enjoyment: 6/10
This hat isn't the very best hat out there, but it's not the worst. It looks like something you would wear to a fancy Halloween party.

Overall: 7.5/10
Again, this is a very interesting yet simple hat for all the fancy robloxians.

Thanks for reading!

Triple Halloween Madness Hat Reviews #1: Spiral Sorcery

Spiral Spider Sorcery

Hello readers! Welcome to part one of this three part Halloween Hat Madness Reviews! Today I am reviewing the hat Spiral Spider Sorcery.

Mesh: 10/10
It is exactly what the tripple S name says it is. A spiral. It is an interesting mesh twist to the common witch/wizard hats on ROBLOX. The hat's mesh has rounded edges like it is a basic kind of mesh, not some complex super realistic hat that doesn't fit in on ROBLOX. I really like the little spider at the end of it too.

Texture: 9/10
The texture is basic but fits. An easy nice shade of purple with the regular colors of a belt of hats. It can't get more basic than this.

Money Value: 10/10
We all know when a price is just right, and this is one of those hats. 125R$ is the perfect amount for this awesome witch hat.

Enjoyment: 9/10
If you are looking to get a cool witch hat for your halloween costume, this is it. Here is what twitter thinks:

@IBarrageI says: "Odd, very odd. But not very imaginative. Fairly cheap though, you get what you pay for."

@Phantomazing says: "Looks okay. Not something I'd like to buy, but the spider on the hat's tip looks really cool."

@Gennix11 says: "It looks bosssss, I will buy."

@ RBX_Zakary99 says: "could be better"

and lastly, @arbirator says: "It's pretty awesome"

Overal: 10/10
A great little hat for your costume!

Game Passes: The best configure setting yet?

Hello, me again with some news. I have recently, well just found out that ROBLOX have added a "Game Pass" option. Making it easier for users to give other users benefits at their game for paying a certain price. This was a great thing to add to ROBLOX, as it gives users who can't script the choice to make a Premium Pass without the shame of free models. This is a great option to add for users. You can read the full post here.

These new Game Passes are fairly simple to use, as they don't have much of a complication.
This is the step-by-step guide of how to make one if you've never made one before. It's also a fairly simple process. You make an image, I suggest Paint.NET or Adobe Photoshop. As they are probably some of the best photo editing software out there. Make your name catchy, more users would want to buy it if you give a nice, snappy title that gives out a bit of information. Make the description nice, easy to read sort of style. Then, just upload, simple as that!

Review Delay
I know I haven't written one review this week, or at least I think I haven't. I will try my hardest to get one up and out of the door of drafts for you users to see on the published side of Roblox news.

Quadruple Review Week: Review #1

I've decided to do four reviews in one week! Am I crazy? I may be a bit crazy, or just a bit nooby. Anyway, I'm going to begin by reviewing this weird and random building game, which promises you that you can build to your heart's consent, or to your heart's desire. Either way, I thought I should give it a try. I'm not running on a new Graphics Card and a new Power Supply, also to top it all off, on a new internet box thingy. I feel powerful, so I decided to do four reviews in a single week. I did something related like this a year ago, but I only did two reviews. So, I increased the number by two.

Build To Your Desire II (Read desc :D)
Thumbnail of "Build To Your Desire II" a game by user CombativeStriker.

I took a step inside and then I was introduced with terrain. Lots and lots of terrain. An endless amount of terrain was found inside of this place. I took my trusty stamper tool out, and began to build to my heart's consent. I built myself an awesome tunnel going through the terrain, only to take you to the same place you were mere minutes ago. I decided to build some more and more and more, until I was tired of building of course.

Well, this place isn't so popular as you may think, so why did I review it? Well, I thought of reviewing a place I hadn't seen before. I also thought about reviewing a different genre that I hadn't reviewed ever before. This place surely intrigued me. It fascinated me when I was able to break through the terrain. I didn't find any one of the users who was in the same place as I was. It was a weird experience too.

The reason I couldn't find other users might have been because there was only two other people alongside with me inside of that place. But, I may have found them eventually, right? Right. They might have been building their world headquarters for their newly founded clan. They also might have been creating a monument of some sorts of their favorite Moderator or Administrator. Who knows? Nobody, besides them.

I surely was able to build to my heart's desire/consent. I also surely enjoyed that kind of power that was given to me. I could ruin someone else's building project! >:) (DxandJohnCena doesn't like ruining other people's work.)

Scripting: 10/10. No scripts necessary.
Tools: 10/10. All tools necessary for building the greatest item ever are provided.
Building: 10/10. You have the ability to build whatever you want!
Community Enjoyment: 10/10. I haven't received any physical feedback on this exact game. But, I can tell people enjoy this by looking at how they visit this place often.
Originality: 1/10. Not so original, I've literally seen thousands of these places in my years of ROBLOX.
Deals with Problems: 10/10. No problems found.
Reviewer's Experience with Lag: 10/10. No lag ever.
Difficulty: 1/10. EASY AS 1 2 3
Reviewer's Enjoyment: 10/10. Enjoyed this a bit.
Reviewer's Recommendation: 10/10. Like building? This is the place to build on your own without the interruption of others.
Thumbnail's Review: 10/10. Grabs the player's attention.
Scenery: 10/10. Not original scenery, but decent one.

Overall: 9/10. Decent place, could be a bit more fun.

A quick Q&A. Question: Why have I been inactive on RN lately? Answer: I've been busy with school. Homework, tests, and what not. Question: Will you be more active on RN? Answer: Yes, I will try my best to write as many posts as I can. Expect a small delay on weekdays, but on weekends, I'm free to do whatever I'd like.

Thanks for reading, I hope you've enjoyed this first review of Quadruple Review Week.

Multi Minigames Review

So I was looking around on the front page for a game to make fun of. There were a few role-playing games I could make fun of but those are just terrible to play. Then I saw Multi Minigames and figured "Eh, this could be awful." I was very wrong. Somehow this game managed to get me to keep coming back until I had beaten the game. I'm still not sure how he did it but the game managed to be fun, challenging, and it had some clear goals.
Gameplay 9/10
Like most mini-games you start out on a lobby. Most people have really lame lobbies where all you do is spin some balls around or something. However, what I really like about this lobby is that it's really big. I got lost in it a bunch. The lobby has...
  • An art board
  • A slide ramp with bricks on it that fall with you
  • Shop
  • Lottery
  • Soccer
  • Tons of other little things
However, the lobby is one of the least important things in the game. What really matters are the mini-games. Some of my favorite mini-games are
  • Freeze tag
  • Giant Pool Table
  • Pirate ships
  • Sky Fight
  • Hide and Seek
There are quite a few other mini-games and they are all incredibly well scripted. Each one is unique and that's what's really fun. Anyway, you got points and credits and one ticket every time you play a game. You can spend your credits on the items in the shop and your tickets at the lottery. The points is basically a score system.
 Effort 9/10
There are a lot of different mini-games and each one is unique. However, a few mini-games have annoying glitches. Every time I play the Pirate ships game my cannon refuses to fire right for a good 15 seconds which normally costs me the match. Also, everything is made brilliantly, especially the Hide-and-Seek mini-game
Creativity 7/10
Yes, there are tons of mini-game places on ROBLOX. This game however, manages to use some different types of mini-games. (I've never seen a giant pool table mini-game) Keep using creative mini-games and you'll be good.
Overall 8/10
All around, it's a good game. You can have a lot of fun with friends here and you can also go crazy and try to get the insanely hard badge like I did.
Suggestions
  • More mini-games. But don't just dish them out. They need to be good ones. Please do NOT sacrifice quality for quantity.
  • More badges. Perhaps a hidden one in the lobby?
  • Musical fanfare and God powers for all users named Banjobug whenever they enters the place.

If you want your place reviewed simply contact Banjobug on twitter or send me a private message on ROBLOX. The next post could be about your place! I'll be glad to give you ideas on your place and help make it better. Also, if you find a place that is absolutely awful and on the front page send me a PM and I might make a RANT about it!

Also, you should follow me on twitter even if you don't have a RANT or review request! Sometimes I invite my followers to go to places with me to help review them.

Can users create their own graphics on ROBLOX?

This is a very unusual post for me to do, it's more talking about how users might be able to make graphics on ROBLOX, not just any graphics, Shadows, interactive water etc.

Now, on ROBLOX we are provided with a series of graphics:

  • 3D
  • Fog
  • Ambient
  • Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (Corner shadows)
  • Shadows
  • DirectX/OpenGL
There are many other graphics on ROBLOX, they are very complicated. But how is it possible with a script, (to an extent) create extra graphics on your game.

But before I start speaking about making them, lets get to understand them. And all you people who hate the idea of the Dynamic Lighting, prepare to be swayed!

Not many ROBLOXians appreciate the work ROBLOX put in making graphics, and how they make them is outstanding. With Dynamic Lighting, ROBLOX are only trying to make the aesthetics and realism better for you. And with the Dynamic Lighting people say "It's going to make us upgrade our computers", no it isn't. It's still going to be optional, it's just extra shaders, I've also heard people say "It ruins ROBLOX". But it doesn't. It's just people saying that because they don't know whether they can handle it. And you guys out there, reading who don't want the Dynamic Lighting, ask yourself "Would I like the Dynamic Lighting if ROBLOX had it?" Because, the truth is. You would like it. All of you would. You could possibly not know it, but you would. The reason for this is your eyes, your eyes are visually attracted to something graphical. Why do you think you always sit in your room on your 3DS or your iPad? Or even your PS3 bashin' out to a bit of Call of Duty? Because you're visually attracted to the graphics. Half the people who don't like the Dynamic Lighting are saying it to act "old" in ROBLOX. Graphics aren't just the look visually, it's also the realistic-ness of the game, perhaps you would have "moving" water on your game. That would visually attract some users, as it's very realistic to an extent.

Now that I've ranted a bit, and got that over with, lets talk about how users can make graphics just with simple code on RBX.Lua. Like I said, you can do anything from moving sea to character shadows. So lets get down to business!

Character Shadows;
These are more complicated than moving water, and such. Because with character shadows created by the creator of a game on ROBLOX that isn't made from the ROBLOX Graphics itself, is tricky. You would have to start off by cloning the parts inside the character into a model and cframing the model to always be a certain amount away from the character, using angles, cframe and all the other things. You would also need to clone the packages, if there is any, you could do this with an Array. Arrays are commonly used on minigames to find a random minigame out of that array. With that array, you would set a function to find the Robloxian 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever, and it is. Once you have learnt from the Roblox Wiki as much scripting as possible. You can start programming this...

Sea Movement;
Sea movement is an element of making a game look good, I usually use CFrame and BlockMesh for this, as it makes things easier. With CFrame you would use a for statement for the water to rise, and a for statement for the water to descend. Sea movement in a game is fairly easy, and takes not many tries.

The Beauty of ROBLOX, a 2 part series by Tonitoni

Today I came across a video by ROBLOX user Tonitoni that really shone out to me. It showcases a prestigious collection of ROBLOX games. These are not just simply 'games' however, they are pieces of beautiful artwork. Each of the places shown to viewers are crafted by incredibly talented individuals whose attention to detail is simply astonishing.

They truly show off what the ROBLOX engine is capable of, but most importantly what players are capable of. I can't begin to imagine how long it took these builders to C-Frame every part of their game into the perfect position. Their creations mirror the real world in a way I did not believe was possible. Let no player doubt the beauty of this game ever again.

Check out the amazing showcase below:

Interview with DarkGenex!

Today I interviewed the fourmer DarkGenex!

1) When did you join ROBLOX? What were your first impressions?

Feb. 11, 2010. I thought the game was interesting, like a giant online box of LEGOs.

2) What part of the game stood out to you the most?

The fact that you could pretty much "Build Anything".

3) What was the first game you visited? Did you enjoy it?

Disaster Hotel. I enjoyed it, it was a nice time-waster.

4) What is your favourite type of place on ROBLOX? Why?

I'd say either Sword Fighting games such as SFOTH, SFOI and SFT. It's fun and takes some sort of strategy to fight, not just going in Rambo style and blasting everyone to bits like a crazed maniac...

5) Do you have a favourite place? Why is it your favourite?

Favorite place would have to be Pac-Man!! by PacManMan, I have tons of fun there even though it's a simple game. The glitches are fun to discover and figure out the limits of the game... I mean there's glitches where you can spawn in an invisible skybox, make the map explode and even send Pac-Man flying through the walls. I also have tons of memories with my friends there, the few friends I do have :3

6) When did you start foruming?

I started in March 2011, but began to start foruming frequently in July 2011

7) Which forum do you usually post to? Why?

LMaD. I know their community, racked up about 20000 posts (so far) in that forum. Plus, easy way to make profit, you can get lucky off of LPPs/Snipes/desperate people. Seriously, the best way to profit is off of desperate people...

8) If you were CEO of ROBLOX for the day, what would you do?

First off, I'd send out a personal thank you to some of my closest friends. Then I'd make a blog post asking people what they wanted, and total up the most wanted results and leave the results to the next CEO. Next, I'd release the Crystal Skull hat (wink wink) and make a Green Sparkle Time Fedora. Finally, I'd go into random people's games, and just visit them, make em happy :)

9) What is your favourite item in the catalog?

http://www.roblox.com/Metal-Guitar-of-Awesomeness-item?id=60678464

10) And finally, apple or orange?

Potato duh.

Well that was my first interview I have done, hope you guys enjoyed! Like what I write? Follow me on twitter @Darkfish900

"Mario Adventure!" by Aurarus Place Review

Mario Adventure!

by Aurarus
Genre: Platformer/Obby

Starting area with the Mario Castle

We've all probably picked up the famous "Super Mario Brothers" game at some point in our lives. And most of us who played it have found it to be extremely intriguing, challenging, memorable, and fun. It's platforming and action even left some of us with a bit of nostalgia, waiting to be fulfilled by either a new Mario game, or (since we all love Roblox) a Roblox obstacle course.

Great atmosphere makes puzzles seem way more enjoyable
This game borrows some of the design, character and atmospheric elements from the various Mario games, from "Super Mario Bros." to "Mariocart." Through out the levels, the attempt at creating a Mario-like obstacle course in Roblox can be seen. The looks of the levels are, for the most part, authentic and detailed. The creator really took the time to investigate many Mario assets in the real games for details to bring into this game. With the exception of the maze levels, the background surrounding the actual obstacle feels very brilliant and fulfilling; a tree or two and some mountains help create a feeling of a large world when the obstacle is in reality really small and linear. Overall though, this game differs a lot from the other obstacle courses by actually providing some buildings besides the actual challenges.

Greatly unique level designs
Having only atmosphere though, does not make a game any good if the gameplay is boring. Most sections of the "Mario Adventure" place bring the player some interesting jumps and obstacles that differ from the mainstream "jump over this piece of oddly placed red brick" (although it does contain a section of this). There are, however, some major exceptions to this rule. For one, the mazes in the game takes the great gameplay and atmosphere, throws it on the ground, stomps on it, and burns it with a blowtorch. In these sections, you are essentially trapped in a monotone colored room and forced to run around randomly.

Typical maze, note the monotone colors.
Another section that is inferior to the rest of the game is the Mariocart world. The atmosphere here is possibly one of the best, with the track surrounded by stars and rainbows. However, as cool as the concept sounds, it was one of the poorest and most neglected section, right after the mazes. The carts had welding problems and they used default "WASD" car seats, which meant the car was a nightmare to handle and jumps were nigh on impossible. It would have been better to just cut this section along with the mazes out of the product in the first place.

Great concept, however, gameplay is terrible

With all that said, the game is still a well made game with unique atmospheric content rarely attempted by other makers of obbys. "Mario Adventure" is just and example of a carefully done, atmospheric, and interesting obstacle course that differs from the usual.

Different jumps keep the player on his toes
(trying out new rating with just one score, as games are supposed to be all-in-compassing.)
 Verdict:
8/10 OVERALL
Great, must try.
