Place Review: Paintball 2

Paintball 2! Closed Testing_ImagePaintball 2 is a brilliant game to showcase during the Summer Games, with hardly any faults I can think of. It is a fantastic specimen of a great first-person shooter. It is one of the three Summer Games I enjoy playing; and it's definitely one of my favourites.

When you enter Paintball 2, you are greeted with a very simple, even and attractive GUI. This is black and slightly translucent, which gives you a beautiful view of the map. The GUI gives you many options, one of them allows you to customize four-classes, however, the attachments and receivers will cost a price. This is a great feature, because it allows users to have a gun that requires less skill, if they had skill in the first place to acquire the attachment that decreases the reliability on the person using it. The GUI is pretty self-explanatory, and not hard to navigate around at all.

Once you have joined the game, you automatically equip the Paintball gun. Which is also very simple to use. It operates using a point & click system. However, this does still require skill, because the gun has a large recoil. So depending how good your ability in mathematical estimation is, you can become quite good at knowing where the bullet will land if you shoot it somewhere. The guns are also colour corresponding to the team you are on.

I gain a lot of fun out of this game, because overall my estimation skills are pretty good, so I am usually the top-scorer during most games. However, there can arise problems with people who are normally top-scorers, because they are sometimes put on teams with players that can't even score 10 kills, and they end up carrying the team to victory, even though the other team played so much better.

There are two big problems with this game, one of them is the server lag that is obtained from a large time of playing on one server. In my personal opinion I think it is the lag-balance code that is used to allow corner kills, alike Call of Duty. Another problem with this game is the way it sorts teams, sometimes the teams are too overpowered and sometimes too underpowered. This is a terrible way to sort the teams, because the score could become so one-sided and make the other team's top scorer to have 3 kills and 30 deaths.

Gameplay: 9/10
This would be a ten if there wasn't such a large amount of lag.

Building: 8/10
I like the classic-styled buildings.

Coding: 9/10
Some of the codes don't fit in their place and some aren't even there - the team-sorting.

Overall: 9/10
Great game, very fun to play.

  1. Lag ? LAG ? dude i can play this on my moms note book ... Anyways if theirs unbalanced teams you can get around that by just ignoring all flags and team members and just thinking about your self.
