Strategizing: Roblox Battle Part 3: The Rocket Launcher

Decisive tool of destruction or the poor man's personal cannon? That is the question we will be asking here in part 3 of our ROBLOX Battle guide, this time covering the widely used classic, the rocket launcher.

As always, we're going to first break the weapon down to it's bare mechanics. The rocket launcher of old was a simple gray bazooka shaped mesh that shot blue 2-3 stud slow traveling missiles that also made a "whooosh" sound as it traveled, getting closer and closer to it's impact point until it eventually blew up on a surface, or an unlucky robloxian, blowing them to smithereens. While the ROBLOX Battle rocket launcher, is more detailed, and features kind of a nerf compared to the classic rocket launcher. It features a kind of slow reload, and does only 75 damage, leaving your victim with 25 health left to regroup instead of turning them into plastic bits.

Although more interesting, you can er, "rocket jump" with the weapon if you're able to aim your cursor at your feet which will send you into the air, but in a more pitiful way compared to the rocket jump of the TF2 Soldier, but if you somehow are able to successfully do this you'll have about 25 health left and with not many uses for this thanks to the map design, it's best to avoid rocket jumping with the rocket launcher unless you really want to.

So why is this weapon so low on the list, since we have 3 more to go? Well, it's hard to explain but this order is my personal picks of weakest to the most powerful weapons so you don't exactly have to follow my opinions, but back on topic. The rocket launcher lacks a little less punch than it's ye olde counterpart, but it makes up for it with it's easy use and reload animation to tell you when you actually have a rocket loaded. Most of the actual power comes from old brickbattle tactics though. Someone chasing you with a sword? Rocket launcher from behind, blow them up. Enemy on a lower elevation? Jump down and launch your projectile of explosive property.

And something else to note, backblast will not kill you due to explosion radius being tweaked to be a bit smaller than normal. I found this out the hard way by chasing someone with the sword and them deciding to pull out the rocket launcher and blow me up. Yay.

To conclude, the rocket launcher is a bit underwhelming thanks to the reduced damage, but you can easily make up for that by tricking your enemies into thinking you actually have something like a sword. Rocket jumping is pretty much useless as I see for now, since losing 75 health for a small jump boost is a bit too much risk for minor reward. Easier use will make this weapon a widely used tool, mastering it can put you on top of the competition quickly as all most people will use is the rocket launcher, or sword. To close, the matchups.

V.S. Slingshot

It all depends on the skill level of the user and your health, if they can blow your rockets up with the slingshot projectiles then you might be at a slight advantage, but if your health is low then it's time to back off so they can't take hits. Full health though? Go ahead.

V.S. Sword

If you actually have experience against foes with swords, it wont take long to dispatch them then, using the backblast on the rocket launcher will kill them if they're able to get close but it's recommended to try this if they have less than full health.

V.S. Bomb

Long range is an easy fight, predicting where they will move will be immensely helpful. Though, most bomb users will attempt to just chuck it at you without bothering to shorten the fuse. Short range may be a problem if "suicide bombing" is a tactic being used thanks to the launcher's reload speed.

V.S Superball

Switching to another weapon is the best option against a superball user, their throws are much faster than your rockets and barely have an actual reload so DPS is a big problem. Elevation though, being higher up easily gives you the advantage since you can just drop them with maybe one rocket and a quick sword swipe, but be sure to keep the deflector handy.

V.S Deflector

This is a losing battle as soon as you know it if the deflector user is competent in their ability, but if they are unable to carry out the actual proper use of the deflector, then an unpredictable firing pattern should help you carry this engagement to victory.

V.S. Rocket Launcher

Elevation, range, and firing pattern is what will determine your outcome. Higher elevation means you can rain rockets down upon them, closer range is a much riskier fight, and firing pattern is another key to the rocket launcher, don't be predictable. Use those, and you just might come out on top.

Apologies for nothing last week, as school has started and I will be a bit less busier. I will attempt to write at least one article per week now, longer lengthed since it'll be only one. We will have to see though. As always, have a nice week.

Strategizing: Roblox Battle Part 2: The Timebomb

Welcome to part 2 of my Roblox Battle strategy guide! This time we will be covering a not so very often used weapon, the time bomb. Compared to the original "classic" bomb, the timebomb is quite different, where as the "classic" one is just dropped down then beeps for a few times then explodes, the time bomb can be chucked and then will explode depending on how long you let the fuse go. But we're here to talk about the ROBLOX Battle timebomb, not the classic one, maybe another time though.

Just like we did the slingshot, let's look at this weapon down to the basics. The time bomb can be simply thrown and it will explode after beeping exactly 12 or so times, or you can hold the bomb to make the fuse shorter, then let it go hopefully with it not blowing up in your face. But since you're able to "cook" the time bomb like a grenade, then it becomes one of the more skillful weapons in the game. If the time bomb is "one of the more skillful weapons in the game", why isn't it used more? Well.. it has versatility and power, although it's just not as fast to use as the other weapons. The main problem with the time bomb is it's pretty much outclassed by weapons that are able to dish out damage and dispatch foes faster, like the superball and rocket launcher.

Don't get me wrong though, it may lack the ability to keep throwing out damage like crazy, but the time bomb is easily one of the best crowd control weapons. Group of 2-3 people chasing after you or brawling in a close range? Chuck a bomb with a shorter fuse at them and hope it blows them all to smithereens. The way damage works is sort of odd, but if you can nail someone head on then you'll be able to kill opponent in one hit, though if you can catch someone in the fray with ~20ish health, just the very edge of the blast radius will do 30+ damage.

So overall, the bomb isn't the best weapon in the game DPS wise and easily countered compared to the superball or rocket launcher, but the somewhat situational crowd control ability can be very handy especially on maps like The Depths or Crossroads, where there's usually groups of people roaming around. The damage can also be very rewarding if you're able to time the fuse correctly since as I mentioned before, the blast radius is big and  able to instakill point blank, unlike any other weapon in the game. I personally recommend the bomb as a group management weapon, and as a last resort. (aka run next to someone with the bomb, blowing yourself up and killing them)

Just like last time, the matchups.

V.S. Slingshot

If you're going to engage someone with a slingshot it would be best to catch them off guard, or in really close range as you dodge their projectiles long enough to prime the bomb and let it go. Dodging is the big thing in this.

V.S. Sword

The sword is a very fast attacking weapon that boosts the user's walkspeed slightly, so your slow priming bomb isn't exactly the best solution but if you insist, stay away from them and hope the bomb makes contact.

V.S. Deflector

By far the biggest hazard against bomb users, a nicely timed deflector shockwave will send your bomb hurtling right back at you. Even worse if it's at close range and you're just about to throw it which results in you being hurtled all across the map, so it's recommended to use something that isn't reflectable (sword).

V.S Superball

Superball users will generally try to hit you from afar but you can try to chuck a bomb across to them, though they'll most likely get caught at the edge of the blast, or out of the way entirely so it's best to just get the deflector out.

   V.S. Rocket Launcher

It really depends on the skill level of the rocket launcher user, if they're the average "run in a straight line and spam rockets" then you should be good with just throwing a well timed bomb at them, although if you're dealing with someone that dodges and jumps and shoots, then the bomb isn't exactly an option anymore.

V.S. Another Timebomb

This usually boils down to who's at what range and who can prime a bomb without exploding into a bunch of plastic bits, so simply just keep your eye on your enemy and be ready to dodge and throw when needed.

That's another part down, though I forgot this at the last minute, if you're having trouble timing the bomb it beeps exactly 12 times before exploding. So count, then throw whenever you feel is best. Next part will be covering the Sword or Rocket Launcher. As always, have a nice week and thanks for reading.

Strategizing: Roblox Battle Part 1: The Slingshot

So, thus starts the first "series" for Strategizing, ROBLOX Battle is considered by most to be the "next-gen" brickbattle game so I thought I'd help the players having trouble with the game and being unable to learn the mechanics and many strategies behind each weapon, some more complex than others. Why not start off with what many consider the "weakest", the very looks-can-be-deceiving slingshot.

Now, I know what you're thinking "dis thing loks so wek lel xD" but truth be told, the slingshot is something much more than what you see. First, let's examine it down to the mechanics, fires a spherical projectile in an arced pattern unless you shoot it downwards, simple enough, deals about 4 damage each, okay. The farther you fire it out the arc will get deeper, but the slingshot always shoots the same when aim at the same spot, so this can be used to your advantage.

The main perk of using the slingshot is it can be used to harass foes on higher, or lower elevations which can make them easy picking if they don't react fast enough to escape your barrage of pellets. This can be particularly seen against someone with a sword, they start running towards you, start backpedaling and shooting them with the slingshot which will kill them if they keep running towards you in a linear path and slashing. Rockets can also be blown up with the slingshot projectiles but it's generally not recommended if they're close range since it'll likely get you killed.

In whole, the slingshot is best used as a harassment tool and for killing off weaker enemies, if pitted against something like a sword it does the job right, it's not something to pull out all the time but it's good for when you're facing a group of enemies that all have below 50% or so HP. Just remember to not use it against deflectors.. Anyway, onto the matchups.

V.S. Rocket Launcher

It's generally not recommended to use a slingshot against someone with a rocket launcher unless they're medium/long range as you can blow up their projectiles with the projectiles although close range as I said before may get you killed. If they're not targeting you directly and have kind-of low health I'd say it's safe to engage them since they're clueless of your presence.

V.S. Superball

Going up against a superball user with a slingshot is pretty much suicide, since the superball is a very erratic weapon, it could ricochet off someone else and kill you, or it could fly off of a wall or the ground and smash you into pieces. Although if you insist, you'll want to engage them at very close range and generally at least a bit weak since at anything else other than close range they easily have the advantage.

V.S. Sword

Easy, the slingshot user has the big advantage here since you can easily just backpedal and keep shooting the sword wielder until they run off or keep running blindly as I'd stated before. Although it they ambush you off guard you may have a little trouble.

V.S. Time-bomb

Apologies for the lack of a better thumbnail, but anyway this can go either way, long range is a definite win for you with the slingshot since the bomb isn't too much of a long range weapon, though mid and short range are worrying depending on if they don't blow themselves up priming the bomb first or if they actually catch you off guard, all I can say here is if you don't think they're skilled with a bomb, go for it but keep distance.

V.S. Deflector

The deflector is another worry you'd probably want to keep an eye out for, since if they can close the distance between you and them your slingshot projectiles will do little to no damage to your opponent and probably kill you. So it's very much advised to avoid using the slingshot completely against those with deflectors.

V.S. Another Slingshot

This can go either way, it all really depends on who can land the most hits or who has the most health and/or dignity to keep with a slingshot for the full fight.

And thus, that concludes the first part of seven of this series on ROBLOX Battle, the next part will probably be out this week if I get bored or next week, which will cover the time-bomb or the sword, we're going from weakest, to strongest weapons I suppose you could say but part 7 will cover the maps and other components of the game, we're just staying simple for now.

As always, thanks for reading.
