Giftsplosion 2014: The Percy Jackson of Christmas Events

Giftsplosion: the Timely Woe of Outdated, Useless Gifts

Hello readers, RayMan36 here with what we've all been waiting for: disappointment. Yes, I'm here to talk about the overly-impossible gift hunt, and maybe what would come out of these presents from the depths unknown, which all of you certainly bought.

DISCLAIMER: You have been juggling a broken teacup with a milkshake straw in your sock while dancing to the Canadian national anthem, all with your iron man costume in your baby pool on your 8th birthday party only if it was July 20th and it was a full moon. Otherwise, just pay me $40,000.

Moan-Up Video Review: Terror in Bikini Bottom

Terror in Bikini Bottom is, and will always be awful. I doubt any updates will come to this game that will make it even the slightest appealing.

Thanks for watching

Moan-up Place Review: Different Town of Robloxia

Different Town of RobloxiaI'm unsure as to what persuaded the 8,000 people thumbs up this game? It is stupidity - nobody knows that the game was created by 1dev2, and they are giving this guy all the credit. It's the exact same game, but with the word 'different' in the title instead of 'welcome'. Oh yeah, that's a genius idea. But because half the population of that game are either online-daters or immature children, it gets to the front page. Jolly good fun.

Player Points and Clan Points: The Issues

Player Points can be now seen on your profile.
Notice: Please observe that this article was written 4/28/14, since then, some updates have been made to Player Points.

Player Points and Clan Points are among the most recent updates to the ROBLOX site and platform. At first, the idea shined with a sort of potential - but the more that users like myself hear about the feature, the more we see this as being another failed project, a fad. At best, it could go the way of BC games, used solely for the abuse of making more TIX and out-casting the Non-BC members of ROBLOX from your game. The sad thing is: that for such an idea that may actually benefit the ROBLOX platform and game, this feature is already in it's death state. It is more than certainly on it's death bed, and the potential for it is slowly diminishing in value and interest. It's almost destine to reach a natural death, and here's why.

A Rant on the Lack of Innovation on ROBLOX

Over the course of four years on ROBLOX, I've had the chance to work with a lot of people and a lot of groups, helping develop their products. Users like Crazyman32, YrrebRBLX, Mrsmith23, DrReli, and more: all prestigious and renowned for their contributions to the ROBLOX community.

But when you start to work at groups that are obviously ahead of their time: creating what people would dream of in the now, you start to realize that outside the walls of the gated community that original group owners build, there are other groups that try desperately to achieve the same thing.

OPINION: The Truth Behind ROBLOX 'Coffee Companies'

ROBLOX Coffee Companies.
We're hearing a lot about these so-called 'companies' and what they turn out to be. A hospitable experience in a fancily made home store where a nice ROBLOXian stands across a shining counter - ready to prepare you a hot, pixelated cup of joe. But behind all this glamorization - I can't help but feel a little aggravated by such a ridiculous idea. This entire idea of virtual food in 'virtual stores. How does it even make sense?

It's no secret that I hate ROBLOXian 'food companies.' To me, they are no more than a bunch of over-dramatic roleplayers where everything is more so about interaction rather than making content or decent stuff. These food companies (especially coffee companies) rely on a stature of reliability: they need to make an image out of themselves to draw everyone away from the sole idea that all of this is just virtual, tasteless coffee and food. So by adding a sort of 'hangout' experience, workers, and a sense of life to the restaurant, some people thrillingly pull this off - and without explanation, even.

Yet, companies like StarBucks and Costa are some of the biggest 'companies' in ROBLOX consumables - their places drawing thousands of customers to their stores on a weekly basis and the question is how? Isn't it just pixelated food? The ROBLOX community is heavily disillusional in the idea that every aspect of real life should be on ROBLOX. After all, ROBLOX coffee? ROBLOX brands, just like the real ones? Exact replicas of public places? Food chains? I'm not one hundred percent on the understanding how some people find the entire concept of working at a 'ROBLOX Food Company' interesting [hey kids, would you like to work at a McDonalds in real life?], let alone visiting them. They must just be essentials, and since it would only be make-sense to visit places that distribute and sell food in real life, perhaps it's just something that is essential to your experience on a virtual game? Even though it sounds ridiculous, perhaps that is all there is to it.

Some would say it's absurdity - the idea of opening a company where you serve "coffee" to people and manage to squeeze out a return. But to me, it's the most hilarious idea I've ever seen. Coffee Groups toss thousands of ROBUX and TIX into the fire by advertising their groups, and what is their return? Nothing more than a few thousand measly and meaningless place visits where they make their roleplay coffee look fancy for all of about five minutes before the average, bored ROBLOX user leaves and in many cases: never returns.

Altogether, the idea when invested properly can make for an interesting roleplay experience. I don't exactly find the working part amusing, nor spending hours visiting these ROBLOX restaurants and cafes but if that's what ROBLOX players are into nowadays, [the pursuit of perfecting virtual food that you can't even taste] then that might as well be how it is.

I'm not going to tell you what to do with your ROBUX or TIX - but let me make a suggestion: don't join this so-called 'coffee industry' because it's an 'industry' with no returns, no promises, and only losses. There are only so many people that can glamorize pixelated drinks and pixelated food and somehow manage to make themselves, and their companies look good and odds are, you are not one of them.

Please take note that the article you just read is one-hundred percent opinion. The article written by myself is simply a concept. These opinions do not reflect the ideas or beliefs of the 'ROBLOX News' site. Due to this being a potentially controversial subject, I completely understand that there could be some mixed feelings about the content of this article. Year-ending post: Why Roblox is educational

Hello readers, RayMan36 here with the reason David Baszucki wakes up in the morning, other than the cash. I'm talking about how roblox is educational.

I. Building and Scripting Aspects
We all know that scripting can get you a job. Computer analysis, Software Designer, Tech Support, lead coder, I could go on. Everyone in a computer job should know some sort of language, and roblox helped with that by using a real-life coding language. Building can earn you a job in engineering, and other fields like it. Plus, with sources like the wiki and forum, learning can begin anywhere and only progress.

II. Roblox's Trade Currency
This resembles perfectly the actual trade currency business in the world. So back in the day when 1 R$= 10 tix, this could be the US dollar and the Mexican Peso. The rates change, and create opportunities for maximum profit.

III. The Clothing Business/Advertising
So the clothing empire can really be described as a small business world. You can all be the same (just plain suits and copies) or set yourself apart, be different, and find something people want. The only thing set apart with this is there is no risk. Making a real business cost thousands of dollars, and making shirts can cost a lot, making a small window for profit. There is no setback to making clothes in roblox, and it is pure profit, apart from labor (and pesky taxes). Advertising, though, has a risk. You pay 100 robux, or something like that, to run an ad that, if successful, will rake in a lot more profits. There was that post a while ago about making ads, and that's entirely my point. Set yourself apart, and make sure you have demand.

IV. Taxes
Taxes suck. We all know that. But they are necessary for building things in a country, such as schools, roads, or an arm. Taxes are burdened on almost every transaction made (other than things like food, water, or clothes in some areas) and take out a lot of money when things are set and done. Roblox does this so someone (cough*merely) does not have too much power in roblox. Roblox takes away robux in ways like dev ex, hats, taxes, name changes, and sales so they don't have to higher an intern because he is more powerful than quite a few admins (sorry if you don't think the same but this, in my opinion, is what it boiled down to.).

V. THE STOCK MARKET
Remember the really popular post a while back, when someone thought it would be cool if roblox had a stock market?
It already does.
let me explain: Stocks have a certain number of shares (fixed), can belong to anyone with the money, and can sell at any price imaginable. Stocks' price are determined mostly by the company, and how the company looks on paper.
Roblox limiteds have a certain, fixed number of shares, belong to anyone with enough robux, and sell at whichever price, but is determined mainly by how it looks. (example: Not So great looking v. Better Traits)
There are many stocks/limiteds available.

I think that's my time for today, comment below on what you thought!

Place Review: Minigames by RaceMasterGame

So, lets talk about this game, it's called 'Funny and Dangerous' (EDIT: Surprise surprise, the name has now changed to 'minigames', which at least give a more accurate description of the experience).

I could tell it was a misleading title by the fact that the description had '[ Content Deleted ]' and the imagery was somewhat nothing to do with ROBLOX. These people make me sick, I mean why don't ROBLOX erase all of their Robux, Tickets & Place Visits and show them what misleading titles deserve. It annoys me there are people I know who put huge amounts of effort into their places and are rewarded by 3 visits a week, however the people who do not put any effort and just insert things from the model section of the catalog are rewarded with a stupid amount of commendation. Does it annoy you?

Anyway, this game has a very misleading title as well as the image being misleading. I do not see any resemblance to ROBLOX on the title image. The game is basically mini-games that wouldn't have reached the front page unless the creator kept changing the title and put ridiculously bad quality images as the image to hide the horror that is the game.

The mini-games in this place are so common which proves my point of how the game is made out of free models, I actually don't even have much to talk about, this might be a very short somewhat review. Whatever there is to review.

Some of the mini-games are so unfair it's unbelievable, I  killed everyone in this round where you have to pick up gear, and one person managed to get me when I had like 10% health? Don't I deserve commendation at least for coming second? It means the second best players are always given zero reward, which favours the best player in the server.

The lobby is about the only thing in this game the so called 'creator' did make, and even that is poorly built, I can't even describe how badly put together this game is, all I can say is "Thank Arbirator this is the only time I will ever visit this place".

Building: 1/10

Scripting:  0/10

Overall: 0.5/10

Good riddance, good riddance.

Thank you for reading,

~Zak

How ROBLOX Managed to Take a Perfectly Good Meme, and Ruin it in hours.

The Doge.

This was once a meme. A good one, popular across Tumblr, iFunny and other outlets, but it's life of seclusion came to an end last week with the beginning of a doltish and vapid scheme of ROBLOX users that overused the meme.

ROBLOX users managed to take a perfectly good meme, and make a joke out of it. A joke that expired in my mind in less than twenty minutes. This so called, doge takeover is even more proof of how our generation takes not only memes, but music, art, creative work, networks, games, and other variations of pop culture, and blows them up into an absolutely awful perspective. They attempt to make big deals of things that anyone else can see and do, and this isn't just exclusive to ROBLOX.

Define Slenderman; Slenderman was a highly popular (lets called it) 'meme' beloved and highly original.

Then, you had people similar to the general ROBLOX community blow it up. They made this Slenderman 'meme' into their variation of Internet Pop Culture and within weeks of doing this, the meme altogether started to die. People tried to make their own variations of "Slender: The Game" on ROBLOX, and other platforms and not only was this destructive, but it was unoriginal.

If you haven't noticed; I have an issue with unoriginal people. I suppose using memes in the proper way is a great thing, but making entire games of them on ROBLOX and other platforms is absolute lunacy.

So, the ROBLOX Community managed to take a PERFECTLY GOOD MEME and ruin it in hours through an insensitive and unoriginal attempt to make something comedic and dulled the meme to death in the wrong way. It was okay for the first 12 hours, but covering everything in Doge for a couple of days took it too far.

tl;dr: Stop making a big deal out of memes. They're nothing special. They look a tad silly if used in the wrong context.

ROBLOX's Egregious Misleading Content: A Rant

So if you people didn't know by a variety of explosive dismay toward so-called "curators" on the ROBLOX platform by myself with misleading and off-site game content (i.e: making Minecraft in ROBLOX... really original, guys..) as well as some other results caused by myself; I have an issue with misleading and unoriginal people. If you didn't know that, perhaps you should go look at /r/roblox on reddit and go see how I handle unoriginal absurdities of the ROBLOX community (don't endorse their work or things they do over there *all the time*, though.)

This is another one of those case in points where I will use a game for a perfectly good reason to express a point in case, for this mini-episode of "pick a game then make fun of it to make your point" I go to the front page, relevant, and oh look:
http://www.roblox.com/RollerCoaster-MiniGames-BETA-place?id=51655137

That was easy.

A remarkably bad looking array of thumbnails with a bunch of awful consoles that no one endorses; some screenshots of Roller Coaster Tycoon Three.

So, after a bit of exploration of the game; I found it hardly had anything to do with Rollercoasters, let alone any of the things it attempted to plaster as it's image and gameplay prior. The entire game was a fraud. A complete mix of utter stupidity, free models and failure. The designs and colors didn't mix, the game was misleading, the images were just as much so misleading, the creator is famehogging this absurd game with more than four million place visits and despite it's thousands of thumbs down (I'm at most one of them) and more than two-thousand people online, it is still played by the easily amused ROBLOX community.

The question isn't why is the ROBLOX community choosing this quality of game (In case you didn't know, the answer is: because kids are easily amused) the question is why isn't ROBLOX handling the misleading thumbnails? I'm fine with awful games on the 'front page' because those are the choices of the ROBLOX community. Despite the fact that I disrespect the "game" that they present, at least they aren't scared to actually show what the game is.

Then there are those unoriginal users.

I swear, the unoriginal users who use the misleading thumbnails should get a job in scamming. That's what they are to me and should be to you. People who's entire time on ROBLOX is made just to get "WELRD FAMOUSE!!!!" and somehow find a way to attract an easily amused audience, and particularly the hilarity for the simple fact that the name of the game is "RollerCoaster Minigames" and not "GAMERS MINIGAMES" (which (by the way is another misleading image from the game's thumbnails) continues to entertain and ensue.

The thing you should know: is that games by petty creators are undeserving of an audience and community notice. That's pretty much why you don't see them on the ROBLOX Development Journal and pretty much the only people that fall for it are the (sadly) young ROBLOX community that doesn't know the difference between EBR and jaredvaldez's work. It's not hard to tell the difference between something reasonable and something downright awful; if you at least are decent enough to have an eye for decent work and design.

However, ROBLOX's content, original?
Some of it.

This?

Please use the door.
It's open.

I'm Darwin12, and you're welcome.
