Spotlight: Attack On Titan

From what I can gather "Attack On Titan" is a Unity game with the exact same premise as this game, while both are based on an anime of the same name, "Attack On Titan". The premise of the game is relatively simple, while being complex. You're given two swords, which seems simple enough. But with a twist, you're able to fly and sling around like Spiderman by pressing Q and E which will extend out these sort of "strings" that you'll have to get used to to be able to stand a chance against the Titans.

You'll be given "60 seconds" for a preparation period, aka you have 60 seconds to move around to a position and get comfortable with the controls, then the "simulation" will initialize, spawn the Titans, and then begin, in which you have only one life and respawns are disabled. The Titans are somewhat unpredictable, because while they are just giant humanoids, their legs don't glitch through the ground and there's a pretty good amount of them..

The best way to go about slaying the Titans is to find one that's kind-of away from the others, and start slicing at it's neck/head, although you're not guaranteed to kill them because if it's in a group you'll likely be crushed and killed. Also it's preferable you try not to go after one Titan that someone else is already taking care of, because that'll just get you or them, or both of you, killed.

Attack on Titan is a fun challenge if you're sick of some of the "easier" ROBLOX games, and I recommend you give it a try; http://www.roblox.com/Attack-On-Titan-MEGA-Stress-Test-place?id=114376683

Also if you're wondering where the Mystery City review is, I have decided to shelf it for now since the thing I had planned has had a few.. complications. Anyway, normal schedule will continue as usual, 2 reviews/spotlights every week. I just wanted to get this one out to fulfill my quota and will start working on the next on Tuesday perhaps.

Hat Review: Red, White, and Shaggy

Red, White, and Shaggy

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed our shaggy hair."

Hello there! Chubbs21 here with another review! Today I'll be reviewing the new limited, Red, White, and Shaggy!

Mesh: 8/10
This mesh is used plenty of times, especially in the well known Shaggy hat. It's basically you're average hair with bangs that go to the side. It fits well with many well known hats like the Sparkle Time Fedora series and the Banded Top Hat series. The only thing I don't like about the mesh, is the awkward "double hair" part at the bottom which I don't really understand.

Texture: 8/10
The texture on this 4th of July special is pretty much the same as every other Independence Day hat, an american flag somehow slapped on to it. Although, the way it fits on the shaggy is quite interesting. In the front you see blue hair, similar to the Midnight Blue Shaggy, with simple white stars on it. The rest of the hair is just waves, or stripes if you think about the American Flag, of red and white.

Money Value: 9/10
For a hyped limited like this, 1000R$ is a great price. Unfortunately, 1,000 copies were sold making this limited not as expensive as the Midnight Blue Shaggy. Although the last time we have seen a truly successful shaggy was the Rainbow Shaggy back in 2011, which is a whole different story of how. This limited is now selling for around 4000R$ as of 7/5/13 which is a pretty good profit.

Overall: 8/10
This 4th of July themed shaggy is not to bad. it's got the same loved mesh as usual, a somewhat overused but neat texture, made a great profit, and has some neat hat combos! I personally got this because it has red in it and I always wanted a Red Shaggy to go with my Red Sparkle Time Fedora, but hopefully BrightEyes will make a pure red shaggy similar to the Midnight Blue Shaggy. :)

Hat Review: Industrial Revolutionary

Mesh - 10/10 This mesh is absolutely great. I love the steampunk cog, and how the whole hat looks like half of a gear. DarkGenex (the creator of the retexture) was certainly right in picking this mesh. The hat sits nicely on a ROBLOXians head, which is definitely a plus.

Texture - 10/10 The texture is a great american industrial revolutionary flag, like the flag from Bioshock Infinite. I like the rusted gold in the border and in the cogs. The small imperfection details on the flag and the texture as a whole, really bring out the flare in this item.

Price - 9/10 This item was R$ 300 on July 4th. It might seem a little pricey, but it was timed, so I bought it the minute I saw it. When looking at the quality of the texture and the interesting shape of the hat itself, I think the 300R$ price tag was just right. This hat might also have a small chance of becoming limited - maybe next year.

Overall - 10/10 This hat was a great steampunk fourth of July item, perfect with the limited steam of Columbia. I would've highly recommended getting, as it was mildly cheap and was timed. If it goes limited, be sure to snag it up straight away as there are only 1069 copies in circulation! Fun fact: the Industrial Revolutionary has the same amount of sales as another patriotic themed hat; the Founding Fathers' Tricorn. Weird huh?

Hat Review: American Commando

The fourth of July isn't just about fireworks and barbeques, It's about the history of America, the signing of the Declaration of Independence after the long Revolutionary war. And of course, it's about staying online all day and waiting for limited items on ROBLOX. The biggest item that was released is what I will be reviewing today, American Commando, a retexture of Arctic Commando made by the user Errorless.

American Commando (PUBLSIHED!!!)

"FDR would be proud."

Mesh:

I love the Commando series mainly because of this mesh. There is a hood to cover the back of your head, a mask to cover your mouth, and goggles to cover your eyes. They are mainly meant to look like they would be used in winter combat. I love this mesh because of a perfect opening on the top, so this hat goes great with tons of other hats, mainly caps and fedoras. The mesh looks great and is fitting with many hats, so it gets a 10/10.

Texture:

The texture of this hat is also really nice. The hood part consists of red and white stripes, the mask part is blue with white stars, and the goggles are a shade of black or grey. This hat makes me think of the American flag, red and white stripes, and white stars on a blue background. The goggles are just another detail to make the hat look nice and realistic. As I said while reviewing the mesh, these hats make me think of warfare in a desert. Well, if a really patriotic american goes to war, this would be a great hood for them to wear. Errorless did a great job. I'm also giving this a 10/10.

Price:

Sadly, ROBLOX is known to ruin items that look great and have high potential. That's what they did with this item. Instead of making it a Limited U, they did something that made tons of people mad. They priced it at 10,000 Robux, it's not a bad price, but they put it on a timer for one hour and then clearly stated that it would go limited after the time ran out. It did go limited, but it's only profiting about 2,000-3,000 Robux. It's not completely failing, but it will most likely not raise, giving the buyers not a lot of profit. ROBLOX ruined yet another item with great potential, so I'm giving the price a 7/10.

Compared to.. ( 8/10):

Because of the fact this only rose about 5,000 Robux, I'm just going to compare it to other items priced 10,000 Robux.

Poor man (Worse than American Commando)
Poor Man
Poor man is a face created three years ago. It is WAY too expensive. It's an ugly face priced at 10,000 Robux, no wonder it only has 65 sales.

Spec Omega Biograph Energy Sword (Worse than American Commando)
Spec Omega Biograph Energy Sword
Spec Omega Biograph Energy Sword, besides having a really long name, is a gear published last year during the Black Friday sale. It was originally 5,000 Robux, but it rose. Its making about the same profit American Commando did, but has less change to raise, as it was made last year.

Illumivision Mystic (Better than American Commando)
Illumivision Mystic
Illumivision Mystic was created a little over a year ago. It is currently the same price American Commando originally was, but the great thing about it is the fact it was originally 3,000 Robux, so it's making about twice as much profit than American Commando. It's a great hat and looks really nice, so I'd say it's better than American Commando.

Overall: 8.5/10

American Commando is a great looking hat, fit for fighting a desert war in America. It looks really nice, and maker Errorless did a great job on it. Sadly, ROBLOX ruined it with the price. Compared to other items around the same price, it's not bad, but it's not the best. If you own it I'd try to sell it now, because I doubt it will raise much, if at all.

Gear Review: Bald Eagle!

Dark’s back and better than ever! Finally done school, back from vacation and now I have all summer to write reviews. Today I’m going to be reviewing Bald Eagle which was released on 6/28/2013.

Mesh: 10/10

The mesh for the gear is kind of obvious; a gear named bald eagle would probably have a mesh of an eagle, right? Well yes it does. The mesh is just like an eagle, it has the perfect shape of an eagle and I think ROBLOX did a great job with it. I give it a 10/10 for its details, like for example the wings are bending in the thumbnail like a real eagle when flying.
Bald Eagle

Texture: 10/10

The texture on this eagle is amazing, it has so many details, and it looks perfect. The texture almost looks like a real eagle; I mean ROBLOX could not have done much better than this honestly. The texture has every little detail of every little feather on its wings, head, and tail.  In game, this gear still looks great. I know some hats and gear don’t look great in game but this gear looks amazing in the thumbnail and in game. Overall, I give it a 10/10!

Performance: 9/10

This gear is more of a protective gear, how it works is once you click with the gear equipped, it spawns an eagle which flies high in the sky above you head and follows you around. Once you are killed by another player, the eagle swoops down to seek revenge by launching powerful arrows that have the same color as the flag of the United States. This gear is good because most of the time it avenges you but I wish it helped you more in combat, so I give it 9/10.

Money value: 8/10

This gear was released with 2000 sold and for 500 robux. This gear later hardly made any profit; actually it started to lose profit.  If roblox had released with even 1000 in stock, it still could have made a bit of profit. This gear isn't worth much more than the original selling price because it’s more of a defensive gear.

Overall: 9/10

Overall, this gear is great and I suggest it to people who die a lot so the eagle can defend them. I hope to have more reviews up soon in the next weeks, thanks for reading!

Review: CounterBlast by SilentSwords

CounterBlast is certainly one of the more interesting takes on the shooter "genre" on ROBLOX, inspired by Counter-Strike, CounterBlast makes an attempt to be somewhat different, but does it succeed? Let's find out.

Gameplay

There are two teams, the Shocktroopers and Mercenaries. The goal of the Shocktroopers is to either kill all of the Mercenaries, or prevent the bomb from being planted at one of the points around the maps. The Mercenaries on the other hand, must get the bomb to one of the points around the map, plant it, and successfully defend it to win the match. At the start of a match, both teams start out with a pistol, and a knife. You have $1000 at the start to spend on whatever you need, a pistol upgrade, flashbang, etc. Yes, there is a shop, there isn't too much gun diversity in the game, but there's a decent amount. Each team has unique weapons in their shops.

There are a few interesting things to note;

  • When you have your knife out, you move faster.
  • Jumping will bring you to a snails pace, so bunnyhopping won't help you at all.
  • There are actually grenades, but you kind of just toss them out, instead of throwing.
  • You cannot crouch, nor scope in, except on sniper rifles.
  • There is no radar, you must rely on sound and sight alone.

The gunplay is quite simple, if your gun has a huge spread, just burst fire. Aiming for the head is most effective, too bad most shooters don't do this. Also remember, most guns behave differently, so try them all out and stick with what you like. Grenades can be useful, but you can only hold 2, although thankfully there are is a good amount of variety with them.

Maps

Since this game is in progress, there are only 2 maps at the moment, and they do the job.

Blaze is your generic "starter" map, which features a good amount of opposite paths, flanks, and 2 points for the Mercenary team to lay out the bomb, point B especially can be stressful to deal with, since they like to come out in one big group. I'd especially recommend you stick with your team because it's likely if you go out on your own you'll have a pretty good chance of being mowed down.

Holdfast is the map I prefer, since it's a decent size, and all of the action takes place inside the house. On each side are ramps for each team to take the top path straight to the bomb point on the roof, or they can go onto the first floor and get some quick first kills. While the map is a bit cramped, there is opportunity for some particularly fun firefights, also be sure to bring grenades.

Building

Both of the current maps are nicely built, they have a simple style but work with the rest of the game's "simplistic" look.
The guns and grenades are all meshes, while work nicely enough.

Creativity

The idea of a "Counter-Strike" game isn't exactly original, but this is the first time I would say it was done "right".

Overall

CounterBlast is a surprisingly fun shooter; I didn't notice that many balance problems with the guns, and the maps look nice. There is a possibility for a really fun game when this is finished, even if it is just in progress.

Although, like all games, CounterBlast isn't perfect, the main two issues I have encountered are;
Unbalanced teams are possible
This could be easily fixed with some sort of "autobalance" if the game detects teams that aren't balanced, since I don't think anyone likes to play 3v9 especially in a game like this.
Grenade ranges are wonky
If you attempt to throw a grenade downwards in a cramped doorway, it's likely going to hit a wall and affect you, this could be solved with some sort of "choice" system that allows you to either toss or throw grenades around corners, just to make things more precise really.

Other than those "cracks in the glass" so to speak, CounterBlast, while far from perfect, is a good timewaster and I recommend it if you're looking for a more "original" shooter.

Now, next up is Mystery City, a game I've been holding off on for a while since there's something special I'll be doing for this review, so expect it sometime late this week or early next week.

USA All the Way Hat Review

USA all the Way
"Its from a book that is a combination of batman and V for Vendetta. I win."

Mesh - 7/10 This is a good top hat mesh, but the only problem I have is that it makes the top hat lanky and flimsy. Maybe that's why roblox made a new top hat, this one looks like the cat in the hat. It just seems too wide and too tall.

Texture - 6/10 This texture the simple stripes and stars, but nothing more. A bit plain. There are a ring of stars as the top hat band, red and white stripes, then just blue and white.

Overall - 6/10 This is a simple american top hat, but the mesh looks unappealing, and the texture is basic. It does look slightly better on your character, but this hat isn't even for sale anymore, probably because it is to old and was replaced by another american top hat.

There wasn't much to review on this hat, I reviewed the winner of last post's contest. Tweet me who made this quote, and I'll review your hat.

Gifts of Summer Event. Meet the First Few.

The event has returned. For its second year of fun and excitement. What is this event? This event represented kindness and more by allowing for the staff to give out gifts with special presents inside. I for one called this "Gifts of July" last year, but now I've changed its name to "Gifts of Summer Event" in order to accommodate with all three Summer vacation months.

There will be 31 gifts this year with maybe a few secret ones. Each one will be unique in its own way, some easy to obtain, some hard. The ones that are hard will have something added to them. Some won't.

Here are the first few:

Name: Burning Gift of Frozen West
Burning Gift of Frozen West
Description: This gift is completely frozen, but is unable to melt. There have been rumors flying around that this isn't really frozen, but it's made of some type of solid material that isn't ice... Nobody knows if these rumors are true, but some experts have hinted to them being true..... The flame mysteriously disappears as well, also an unsolved truth. Guess what material this is made out of... Available on July 5, 2013. For a few hours. Get it early! Guess what material this is made out of via Twitter or Roblox.

Name: Blizzardy Gift of Stormy Weather
Blizzardy Gift of Stormy Weather
Description: This gift has been available for the past year. Back when California's weather was actually cloudy during the Winter time. It's back and better than ever. Still free at this time.

Name: Gift of Extreme Shopping
Gift of Extreme Shopping
Description: One of the garbage timed "gifts." Becomes available on 7/5/2013 for a few hours.

That's it for this week. Check back for more interesting gifts. Including one available for 10 seconds.

Gargoyle Wings Hat review

Gargoyle Wings
"Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else."

Mesh - 9/10 This is a great pair of wings. It has a sinister look to it, and looks like a frozen gargoyle. The only problem I have is that they look almost too frozen to be walking around with, and I wish the wings could be a little wider.

Texture - 10/10 The wings look tone, but the inner part of the wings are a nice [midnight blue] color. It is very detailed. It does look like bat/human wings, how gargoyles look. [Batman maybe?]

Price -  4/10 This has a relativity high price, and is BC- only. I believe that this item should not be BC only because, first of all, guess who mostly buys wings. If you guessed NBC robux buyer, then you are correct. Also, the price of $650 is outrageous (see what I did there; BC Only).

Overall - 7/10 These are a great looking pair of wings, but the price brings this hat down.

P.S. If you can guess what book the quote at the beginning is from, tweet me @RayMan36_RBLX and I might review the hat you are wearing!

Hat Review: Royal Fairie Wings

So, as you all know, ROBLOX recently had a one-day (or night, rather) sale which they called the "Midsummer Night's Sale." Now, overall, the sale wasn't as fantastic as many had expected. Indeed, I had stayed up for an extra two hours only to find that my waiting was to be rewarded with an owl rather than the treasured Midnight Blue Sparkle Time Fedora. However, that said, there were a handful of rather nice, smaller limiteds, the last being the item we'll be reviewing today: the Royal Blue Faerie Wings.

Mesh: The Royal Blue Fairie wings have the same mesh as the Faerie Wings, which they were modeled after, so there's not much to comment on there. The design has been kept nice, clean, and simple, so I'll give it a 7/10.

Appearance: These wings sit nicely on the character, and of course, match with any of the rest of the Midsummer's Night Sale items, such as the Midnight Blue Sparkle Time Fedora, or the Midnight Blue Shaggy. I find the shading of the wings to be rather pleasant, but there's nothing about the hat that quite makes it stand out. In comparison to the original Faerie Wings, I've noticed that these are a tad shinier, as well as more detailed. The Royal Faerie Wings have sections to them as opposed to the Faerie Wings. I suppose that's a nice little upgrade. 8/10.

Pricing: The Royal Blue Faerie Wings hit the Catalog at a price of 1,000 ROBUX carrying 1,000 in stock and sold out a few minutes after their release. While it did start off at a price of roughly 3,000 ROBUX, time has taken its toll on the item, and as the hype wore down, so did the price. They now sell at a price of 1,400-1,500 ROBUX, which, with the tax, allows buyers to either simply make back what they payed or turn a small 50 ROBUX profit. Overall, they're not the best item to invest in currently. 6/10.

Overall: 7/10.

Thanks for reading, and be sure to follow me on twitter! @thekunalr
