Many of you are probably aware that I acquired a large amount of ROBLOX merchandise from the London BLOXcon 2013, courtesy of Becky Lee H (username: ReeseMcBlox) whom I am very thankful to. I have been allowed by the ROBLOX team to sell the majority of this stock and therefore I will be adding the fedoras, t-shirts and the luxurious hoodies to my online Ebay shop.

I have set up the items on Ebay for UK users to buy (and possibly EU and US customers once I have worked out the postage and packing costs). At this current point in time I have one item available, the official ROBLOX Fedora; you cannot buy this item anywhere else at the moment (ROBLOX have taken down their online shop after the 2013 BLOXcon and they are very rarely seen on Ebay and similar websites). Exclusive BLOXcon London Interview Tonitoni!

At BLOXcon London I met hundreds of avid ROBLOX fans, and got to talk with countless readers of Roblox News. It was an invaluable experience which brought to my attention what readers wanted to see, but also to mark achievements of contributes to the blog. I got the chance to interview a number of ROBLOXians about their experiences at the BLOXcon and on the site in general. There was an overwhelming positive atmosphere to the RAF Museum with smiles all around and was an excellent opportunity to advertise the blog, job positions and talk about events we have hosted such as the RN Egg Hunt 2013. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the day was meeting the staff running the show, but also getting to talk to 'famous' or well-known users, such as TheGamer101 (who is actually two twins) and of course: Tonitoni.




This post is long overdue I am aware, as BLOXcon London was over two months ago. The video was uploaded in August, but I forgot to make a formal blog post about it. So here it is, an interview with the world-renowned clan owner, and fellow ROBLOXian: Tonitoni. In this interview with discuss his ROBLOX career, how he got into clans and why he eventually left them. The main focus of the clan discussing revolves around 'The Robloxian Army' otherwise known as the 'TRA'. We also talked about his winning BLOXXY entry: Helm's Deep which is an intriguing project based on the location from the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - an excellent film might I add. to

Virtual Bloxcon Reveal: Halloween Event 2013

Instead of reviewing the recent gears made this Friday, I decided to inform you guys and gals about something much more exciting. During Virtual Bloxcon, an announcement was made. There is going to be a Halloween Event later this year. Based on the information given, I am going to piece together a post to show all of you readers what you should expected for the game.

Overall Idea:
When the event was announced in detail, it was said that the event will hopefully beat the Egg Hunt earlier this year, getting much more players. It is said to be one of the largest maps ever made. The whole idea of the game is still unknown, but I can tell you that it will be amazing.

Consumables:
With the announcement of the Halloween Event, a new type of item was announced. Things called "consumables." From a glance at the name, I would suspect them to be things like cookies, cake, and other foods that you consume. With a little extra thought, I realized that they are possibly going to be items that you "consume," as in, use a limited amount of times then have to re-buy it.

Admins in Costumes:

During the information about the Halloween Event, some images of moderators and admins in costumes came up. They will be appearing around the level. Some costumes include Builderman as a skeleton, Sorcus as the grim reaper, Shedletsky and Brighteyes as vampires, StickMasterLuke as a zombie, ReeseMcBlox as a witch, Fusroblox as a zombie ninja, tarabyte as a cat, and blockhaak as a spider. There is also an admin in a fish monster costume, though whoever that admin is is unknown. And of course, there are most likely more admins that are unknown. Their use is to give the ROBLOXians different tasks during the level, though not much is known about that.

Gifts:

Not linked with the event, Halloween Gifts were also announced. This has been a yearly tradition since 2011, and if it stays the same, all gifts will be sold in robux. None will be earned, and the biggest gift will be 31,000 Robux, though none of that is confirmed.

OVERALL:

This event will be HUGE. It will involve a new item type, a mysterious event, admins in costumes, and of course, Gifts. The gifts will not be linked to the event, most likely. My idea for the event itself is a trick-or-treating game. The admins in costumes are said to give tasks, and the map is said to "have tons of secrets, tricks, and treats." The event will start partway into October, so stay tuned on Roblox News and Roblox for more info in the future!

BLOXcon London: Interviews with ethancomputermad and blockfacebob!

During my time at BLOXcon London I had the opportunity to interview countless numbers of users about their experiences on ROBLOX and at BLOXcon London. In this interview I got to talk with a pair of ROBLOX players: ethancomputermad and blockfacebob! I had a great time talking to them about their scripting and building experiences. 

Interview with ethancomputermad!

Q. When did you join ROBLOX?
A. 20th February 2010

Q. What made you want to stay?
A. First site to go where I literally could go straight into the games

Q. When did you start scripting?
A. In 2011 where I started writing code for a script builder

Q. what's the most complex thing scripted?
A. Studio emulator

Q. What's the most rewarding aspect of scripting?
A. People using your finished product, and seeing it work.

Q. How are you enjoying BLOXcon so far?
A. It's great as I get to meet new people

Q. What is the most rewarding aspect of building?
A. People using what you have built, such as the clan bases I have constructed.

Q. Do you build vehicles?
A. Yes, built a jeep complete with headlights utilizing dynamic lighting

Q. When building a fort, how do you prevent unfair raids?
A. More than one has to be in the server for the raid to take place, and there are capture points scattered around the map.

Q. What do you believe was the best update to studio in the last two years?
A. Collision check and script CPU usage

BLOXcon London: Interview with jamesbiggsbot and charliebiggsbot!

During my time at BLOXcon London I had the opportunity to interview countless numbers of users about their experiences on ROBLOX and at BLOXcon London. In this interview I got to talk with a family of ROBLOX players: jamesbiggsbot, charliebiggsbot and their mum; paulabiggsbot. It was a fascinating interview and all three individuals were enthusiastic about the game, even their mum prompted some of their answers! 

Q. What do you do on ROBLOX? 
A.  We play games more than we do build. 

Q. When did you join? And how did you find out about the site?
A.  July 2010 through word of mouth from our friends

Q. What is your favourite aspect of the website? 
A.  Being able to play multiplayer games with dozens of players in servers

A.  One of us has a BC membership, the other is an ex-BC player

A.  Exponential Rocket launcher

A.  Trading cards with other users and meeting ROBLOX staff

A.  Catalog Heaven because we can test gear and packages before we buy them

Q. What's do you believe was the most significant update to hit ROBLOX since you joined? 
A.  Being able to put on more than one hat (the triple hat feature)

BLOXcon London: Vaktovian Interviews

In the following three BLOXcon London mini-interviews; I got to speak in person to a group of three individuals who were currently or had been previously been part of the Vaktovian Empire. They were intriguing conversations considering I have strayed as far away as possible from war clans for over three years. 

Interview with halorabbit:

Q. When did you join ROBLOX?
A. Early 2008

Q. What made you want to join Vaktovian Empire?
A. They had a very established reputation, a great the image, and the persona of a mighty group.

Q.  What made you want to resign?
A. He tells me 'speaking from the heart' - That it takes up a lot of time, and that changes come up. (I'm not quite sure what these changes are, but let's roll with it.)

Q. Who is your favourite staff member?
A. Shedletsky

Interview with BR4DERZ:

Q. What made you want to join the Vaktovian Empire?
A. Introduced by a friend, discovered the enjoyment of war clans

Q. What rank do you currently hold in the Vaktovian empire and how did you obtain it?
A. Sergeant and was promoted for being active within the group

Q. What would you say is the most enjoyable part of being in the clan?
A. Having a reputation and raiding other clans

Q.What did you have for lunch?
A. -Laughs- McDonalds. (This was some kind of inside joke between the trio, don't ask). 

Interview with Domeboybeene:

Q. What was your favourite holiday event?
A. The ROBLOX Egg Hunt 2013. I played with clan mates 

and filled an entire server with Vaktovian troops

Q. Would you say that Vaktovian empire is technologically advanced?
A. -Laughs- We’re getting there

Q. What kind of vehicles do you use?
A. The VampAPC and the unmanned-ATAC are just two examples

A. It would have to be Black Crisis

Exclusive BLOXcon London Interview: Matt Dusek!

As most of you already know, BLOXcon London took place last Saturday at the RAF Museum Hendon. It was an absolute blast, being both thoroughly enjoyable but also a valuable experience for myself, but also the three Roblox News staff that attended. It was fantastic meeting the staff that were behind the game we all grew to love, and was fascinating talking to them about their passions. I will fully describe my BLOXcon London experience right here on Roblox News in a post later on this week, but today I bring you something very special indeed.


During my time at BLOXcon, I managed to speak to many avid ROBLOX users and staff. One of those individuals was Matt Dusek, who some of you might know as the Technical Director at ROBLOX. I seized the opportunity to interview Matt about his job and current projects on the website. You can view the interview below; with subtitles for both quiet audio and important nuggets of information. Sadly the last minute of the interview was cut off due to memory issues with my recording device, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the rest of the exclusive footage!

BLOXCon interview: DarkGenex!

BloxCon Interview: DarkGenex

Hi Robloxians, Today I'll finish up my Chicago interviews with a very famous user I met. when I first met him, his initial thought was: "Hey, let's get Pliztef over here to Livestream the Livestream." It's the world famous pro lifter: DarkGenex.

RayMan36: When did you join Roblox? How did you find out about the site?

DarkGenex: I was sick in February 2010. I wanted to play a free zombie game, so I googled it. Then I found Roblox. 

Ray: What persuaded you to join the site?

Dark: They had what I initially searched for: A free Zombie Game.

Ray: How did you get your username?

 Dark: I was deeply into Yu-Gi-Oh at the time. I wanted to name my character Genex, after a type of Yu-Gi-Oh card. Since that username was already taken, I added 'Dark' in front of it.

Ray: Do you do anything special on Roblox?

Dark: I retexture, invest, leak items, and I used to forum.

Ray: Have you ever tried to make any ROBLOX games?

Dark: Yeah, but none of them have really skyrocketed. I am working on something with TechTeam911 called BLOXCards, a Roblox Trading card game.

Ray: How is Bloxcon So far?

Dark: It's good, but my AlienWare laptop's plug is too big for the ones available at the Hackathon.

Ray: Have you met any well- known users today?

Dark: I've met tons of users: Crazyman32, Merely, and Clonetrooper1019.

Ray: What do you think of the staff?

Dark: They're nice.

Ray: Finally, what did you have to eat today?

Dark: I had a Subway wheat, turkey, and american cheese sandwich. I believe more people should eat this.

BloxCon Interview: BrandonFireFlower

RayMan36 here, on a deadline from arbirator to finish all of my BLOXCon interviews. I didn't quite get the username of the interviewee, but I did some digging and found him; BrandonFireFlower. He was stationed at the LuaLearners Booth all day in Chicago.

RayMan36: When did you join Roblox? How did you find out about the site?

BrandonFireFlower: I joined in 2008 when I clicked on an ad for Roblox. (Surprisingly similar to T0MALO)

Ray: What persuaded you to join the site?

BFF: I thought it was cool; the programming aspect was a plus.

Ray: Do you do anything special on Roblox?

BFF: I'm the lead developer of LuaLearners.

Ray: Have you ever tried to make any ROBLOX games?

BFF: I never finished any of them, but I'm more interested in building for a group.

Ray: How is BLOXcon So far?

BFF: It's cool, I've just been stuck at a booth all day :P

Ray: Have you met any well- known users today?

BFF: No, but I have met some ROBLOX staff! :)

Ray: What do you think of the staff?

BFF: They're pretty friendly. 

Ray: Finally, what did you have to eat today?

BFF: Nothing yet.

Hat Review: Union Jack

Hello! Pbjms here with another hat review. After a nice little weekend long vacation, I guess I must have missed another BLOXcon - this time held in London, England. With the BLOXcon of course came some England themed hats, one of them being the Union Jack;

Union Jack

Mesh: 10/10

This hat's mesh has the normal top hat look to it, a bottom base with a larger "top" part sticking out from it. It looks great on your ROBLOXian's character. The bottom base is bent, along with the very top of the hat. All together, it looks very nice, and goes great with tons of hats, including headphones and shades. The mesh defiantly deserves the 10/10. 

Texture: 8/10

The texture really isn't the best. The main hat is a darker shade of blue, and an England flag is just plopped on the center of the larger top area. At the bottom of the flag looks like an orange/brown stain that is really ugly. The hat itself looks really plain, and rushed. The shadows near the center of the base part really aren't enough to make the texture pop. Some design of flags on the top hat (similar to hats like this) would make the hat a lot more appealing. I'm giving it a 8/10.

Price: 7/10

The worst part about most okay looking hats is usually the price. Once again, ROBLOX overpriced an item, making this 500 Robux. 500 Robux is a lot for members without builders club, but not that expensive for builders club members. It's not severely expensive, but with the unappealing texture, it really isn't worth it. 

Compared to... (6/10)

Phoenix (Better)


Phoenix is a gear made about a year ago, it flies around you shooting fire at your enemies. It is very powerful, and worth the robux a lot more than Union Jack.

Telamon's Other Chicken Suit (Better)

Telamon's Other Chicken Suit is a great looking hat made for LOL Day (July 7th, 7/07, LOL upside-down). It looks amazing and goes great with most hats, once again worth the robux more than Union Jack.


Skeleton (Better)

Skeleton is a Halloween package made a few years ago in 2010. It's great for a Halloween costume, and great for role-playing. It is worth the robux, thus better than Union Jack.

Overall: 8/10

Overall, Union Jack is an okay hat. It has a great mesh, though a poor texture. It's price is a bit more than I would expect it to be (about 250 Robux). Compared to other items priced at the same price, it is probably one of the worst. This is really not worth your money, unless you have tons of it.

BLOXCon Item Reviews!

BloxCon Item Reviews!

Hi, RayMan36 again. Today I'll be reviewing all of the Chicago BloxCon items, other than the Hackathon prizes. I'll review those later.

I wanted to make sure that all of the items were actually in the catalog before I reviewed them.

These items are only the ones that you can get from going to BloxCon, not like the hat The Windy City.

Let's Begin!

1. Chicago Bloxcon Black Fedora

This is the bloxcon hat for anybody who ordered their bloxcon tickets early. The mesh is nice; it fits nicely on your character. The texture is alright, for the colors are nice, but the little pictures look like a 3 year old stuck stickers to a fedora. The band also looks a little strange - a block colour would look more effective. I give it a 7/10, also because it is slightly rarer then the white fedora

2. Chicago Bloxcon White Fedora

This is a nice bloxcon hat for any Chicago ticket buyers. The mesh is just like the other one. The texture, in my opinion, is better; It looks like a JJ's white fedora. Another reason why I like the texture is the outlines of the little Chicago pictures are gone. I give it a 9/10.

3. ROBLOX Pinstripe Fedora

This is a fedora that you could've bought at the merchandise booth. I do not believe you got it  from only buying the actual fedora; you had to buy it separate. The mesh is ill- fitting on your character; it is too flat, and a little small. The texture is good; a nice pinstripe with a roblox pin. It does represent the actual fedora, here's a picture (credit to Ray for Modeling)

4. Chicago News man

This is my favorite package. You got it by buying $50 worth of roblox merchandise at the booth. I thought, hey, why the heck, it's not like I'm going to be here next week! Sure, it was a little expensive (about 38 pounds at the London BLOXcon) but this is a major step up from The Crook Package. I like the idea of having packages for bloxcon, and the London one looks great. Anyway, the only thing I don't like is that the skin tone on the hands is a little too pale for any of the head colors, and I would've liked to see the hands transparent. The fedora and everything about it is , so I give this a 10/10.

Halofan987123: I joined in 2009, when a friend in fourth grade told me about ROBLOX.

HF: I am an admin of the popular game, survival 303.

HF:  Sometimes I edit survival 303.

leperdy: I joined in 2008, because i wanted to make a free game that was cool.

Ray: What persuaded you to join the site?

LP:You can just build. I liked the creative freedom.

Ray: Do you do anything special on Roblox?

LP: I made the popular social group Random Insanity, and I am also somewhat of a game developer.

Ray: Have you ever tried to make any ROBLOX games?

LP: I've made many games, but I am working on something that is Upwards of my other games!\

Ray: How is Bloxcon So far?

LP: It's legit.

Ray: Have you met any well- known users today?

LP: I've met crazyman32, darkgenex, and builderman.

Ray: What do you think of the staff?

LP: They're splendid.

Ray: Finally, what did you have to eat today?

LP: I had a fruit parfait today.

BLOXcon Chicago: Video Footage

BLOXcons are conventions run by the ROBLOX team touring across the globe. This year, in addition to Chicago, they are visiting London and New York. BLOXcons are an excellent way of communicating with staff and users alike, but also to preview upcoming alpha and beta features.

Some of you may recall the livestream covering the Chicago BLOXcon, which was embedded onto Roblox News at the weekend. The user named Pliztef who originally hosted this, has kindly uploaded all his footage onto YouTube for everyone to enjoy.


So; if you didn't catch certain sections of the livestream or missed the entire event - now is a great opportunity to catch up on everything ROBLOX.

 

In addition to this lengthy recap, Plitztef has also provided us with two comical videos of events at the BLOXcon Chicago. In the first, Pliztef meets ROBLOX intern Merely and renowned user DarkGenex

BloxCon Interview with Crazyman32

Hi, RayMan36 here. Today you'll read my Bloxcon Interview with crazyman32, a very well-known user. I interviewed him during the Hackathon, at about 11:00 AM. 

RayMan36: When did you join Roblox? How did you find out about the site?

Crazyman32: My friend, gunner120, showed me one day.

Ray: What persuaded you to join the site?

C32: I saw roblox as really cool. Also, you could blow up stuff.

Ray: Do you do anything special on Roblox?

C32: Yes. As many of you know, I make planes and other stuff.

Ray: How did you get into creating planes?

C32: I really wasn't interested in planes, I just wanted a challenge.

Ray: What is the most interesting aspect of making planes?

C32: They are really realistic.

Ray: Have you ever tried to make any ROBLOX games?

C32: Yes; Perilous Skies, Freeflight* and my upcoming games, stranded and Perilous Skies: New Horizons.

* I don't think Crazyman32 realized that freeflight was actually a Bloxcon trading card at that time!

Ray: How is Bloxcon So far?

C32: It's awesome.

Ray: Have you met any well- known users today?

C32: I met halofan987123 (admin of survival 303)

Ray: What do you think of the staff?

C32: They, as well, are awesome.

Ray: Finally, what did you have to eat today?

C32: I guess I had a box of poptarts, typical gaming food.

Hat Review: Chicago: The Windy City

It's most ROBLOXian's favorite time of year as long as they bought tickets a few months in advance, Bloxcon! (Formerly known as Roblox Game Conference and ROBLOX Rally). This year, the event will be held in three different places, yesterday, the 13th of July, Bloxcon was held in Chicago. Later in the month, there will be one in London, and about a month from now there will be one in New York City. Well, during the day, a limited was released (surprisingly not causing havoc at Bloxcon);

Chicago: The Windy City

"And each time I roam, Chicago is /  Calling me home, Chicago is /  Why I just grin like a clown /  It's my kind of town"

Mesh:

The mesh is really nice. There are 2 large buildings, most likely the Sears Tower and Trump Tower. There is also a flag, a sign, a bowl, and a ball with horns. It is set up like a few other ROBLOX limiteds that I really don't recall what they're called (tweet me: @pbjmsRBLX if you know). Anyways, all of those things are set on a base that sits on your head. It looks really nice, and defiantly represents Chicago, so I'm giving the mesh a 10/10. 

Texture:

The texture really makes the mesh pop, revealing the flag to be none other than the Chicago flag. The ball is a basketball with horns (representing the Chicago Bulls), and the bowl is pizza. One tower is colored blue with white lines, my guess is that is is the Trump Tower. The other tower is grey with black lines and two lightning rods, most likely the Sears Tower. The sign also says, (I believe) "Play Ball Chicago" The grass on the bottom is, like a lot of grass, awful. It's pretty much just green with black spots. The "toppings" are nice, a bit plain, but nice. Though the grass looks awful, I'm giving the texture a 9/10.

Price:

The great part about this hat is the price. It was the cheap amount of 100 Robux. It was a limited U item with 2,500 in stock. It took a few minutes to sell out, and now it's selling for around 300-350 Robux. Original buyers get a little over 100 Robux profit, doubling what they bought the hat for. This hat profited a little more than what it sold for, so I'm giving it a 10/10 for the price.

Compared To: 9/10

Paint Bucket is a gear made in 2009 for 100 Robux, just like the other items below. It allows owners to paint any unlocked bricks in games where it is allowed. Although there is no profit with this item, it's classic and fun, so I'm saying it's better than The Windy City.

Xtreme Rainbow Hair

Xtreme Rainbow Hair is a hat made recently for 100 Robux. It looks plain awful, and is by far worse than The Windy City. 

Space Trooper

Space Trooper is an awful looking package made in 2011, also for 100 Robux. I really don't see the point in all those pads covering up your clothes, and I rarely ever see people wearing it, so it's most likely unliked by the community, so I'm going to say it's worse than The Windy City.

Overall: 9.5/10

Chicago: The Windy City is a great looking limited to represent one of the windiest cities in the United States. The texture is alright, but a bit plain, and the mesh really shows all the great things to see in Chicago. It profited nicely, over 100 Robux profit. Compared to other items at it's original price, it's one of the best, but beaten by few. Thanks for reading!
