CFrame Review: Countryside

Countryside (Desc.)_Image
This is another game that resembles the beauty hard work and cframing can bring. You can never find a more effective skill on ROBLOX, CFraming gives the effect to the player, if you don't like to see imagery that looks real, then you aren't having the full experience of ROBLOX and the power the users hold.

Countryside is a funny game, and very cool (though the temperature is not significant), it works very well with the ROBLOX ambient shadows and I have no doubt that when the Dynamic Lighting is released this game will be one of the top games. The creator used Blocks, Plates, Spheres and other formfactors and shapes to create one big piece of artwork on a 3D world.

Not only is this game well CFramed in it's position, the rotational view of the blocks are at the perfect angle, they are very well placed. The game contains many different buildings and CFrames, each one adds a bigger effect to the game, the best effect would be the hand-made terrain. It's a very big touch. As an old ROBLOX user, I do not approve of using normal Terrain rather than CFramed Terrain. CFramed terrain is far more effective.

The game also has a very persuasive front page, many beautiful screenshots and a very effective video to reel the user in. And my gosh it reeled me in, I couldn't keep my eyes of the screen, until Ralph jumped up on the couch and walked over to me.

This game has a very good choice of materials for the objects and models it contains, they blend in and make the game a reality.

One thing I don't understand, the ROBLOX community seem to appreciate awful BLOCKY BUILDINGS more than the beautiful rounded or curved buildings. That I will never understand. But I can say one thing, I would rather be liked for making a beautiful game rather than liked for a game like "Hotel Disaster", I mean when in that game does the hotel ever do anything appealing...

This game gets a 10/10.
I couldn't think of anything better.

CFrame Review: Serene Mill

This building is truly beautiful. I actually don't know any game that can top it. And with the extra graphics only makes the game look visually better. I could safely say, this is the most graphical ROBLOX game I have ever visited, and it's finished, so it's even better. You can't beat it, I can beat it, Ralph can't beat it... --->>

[Serene Mill][海悅軋機寧靜,周圍的天空][Original Version1]

This game is amazing, truly. The trees are the most unrealistic objects within the game, and they are meshes! The house looks like a typical corroded house, but very life-like and immeersive. You can tell that the creator of this game knows his way with making things rotate, because there are two spinning cylinders.

There is spheres that are coloured and textured as grass, and they are well CFramed. There is also a waterfall. The waterfall looks very real too. The water that travels down is actually spinning ice bricks but it makes the waterfall look like it's shrinking and growing due to the speed it is travelling down the pathway of rocks. Inside the house, there are many beautys as well as the stairs that are well fitted, and the spinning cylinder which is also well fitted.

One thing that drew my attention was the overlapping of the wood on the outside layer of the house,  which displayed fascinating craftsmanship  It is a truly epic detail that most ROBLOX games should have implemented. I've played many other games that really irritate me, and I'm pretty sure Arby would agree with me that games with this kind of detail really should stand out more than those less deserving games that often get to the front page.

What if you can't CFrame? There is always an alternative, games with a great storyline, title and objective are attracted to. For example: Catalog Heaven - not heavily CFramed or detailed, but is a kind of game a lot of people play, freeze Tag is another. All contain an objective. This game is just for roaming, wondering. Visualizing ROBLOXs full potential. The potential of all you ROBLOXians shouldn't be underestimated. But Don't underestimate the power of CFraming to further enhance an objective based game.

This game gives off a wonderful effect. A bigger effect than any of my games before have. It's a one of a kind. I don't think I will ever see a sight on ROBLOX quite as good as the Serene Mill.

Got any suggestions?

Place Review: The Globe [Showcase]

Hey, PeerPants here with another place review! As you may have already seen, six places were recently showcased in the ROBLOX blog. The last place caught my eye, so, here's a review of it! This review won't be too long, as there isn't much to write about, but I promise my next place review will be much longer!

Place Reviewed: Globe Theatre
Place Creator: artxia98
Game Last Updated: 16 hours ago (March 13th 2012)
artixa98's Version
Real Life Version

Firstly, I'll show you what Andrew Haak, (communications / public relations at ROBLOX) had to say about the place:
According to its place description, Globe Theatre was a school project artxia98 decided to create using ROBLOX. It’s a detailed recreation of the Globe Theatre (go figure), which was originally constructed in London in 1599 and associated with Shakespeare. I hope artxia98 got an A.
There has been schoolwork showcased in the blog before, in October 2008, which shows that ROBLOX can be used for much more than just fun, it has an educational side to it. Anyway, on with the review.

This place is one of those places that makes you say "wow!". Every part of the building is detailed, from the floor to the roof. If you compare the real life globe with the version built by artxia98, there is little difference. The game could be developed a bit more, maybe a few more things to do, or surrounding buildings, but overall it's an amazing build, and deserves to be featured in the blog! Anyway, enough talking, let's see what other people have to say about it...

arbirator:
Incredibly well built and captures the realism of the structure perfectly.
Mikoto192:
Amazing and a creative piece of art.
McSkylar:
A classical experience which is based on Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, highly detailed and feels very realistic, but, lacks atmosphere. 9/10
ZekeZakKaz:
Lots of detail, but boring. 8/10
Globe Theatre

 Summary

Gameplay: N/A
The place is a showcase game, a gameplay rating wouldn't be irrelevant to the game.
Effort: 10/10
It is obvious that lots of time and love has gone into making this game, and it is clear that all the effort has paid off, who wouldn't want their game in the blog!?
Creativity: 9/10
A few people have tried to make 'The Globe' before, but none have put in this much effort or detail.
Overall: 9.5/10

C-Frame Review: Dirty Waters

Dirty Waters - Lighting and Fog Changes_Image

Yes, it's another c-frame review, probably the most interesting reviews I actually write, but I have these beautiful games that I love to share to people. This review is all about a c-framed game called "Dirty Waters". First of all, the name already gives me an adrenaline rush - making me think of a plane crash into a bog, don't ask why, because I think I got the idea from a program on 'telly. Even the front cover looks realistic, it looks like an old camera took a photo while the user holding was shaking the camera from fear. Join the dark side.

Now, when I enter the game I have a nice piece of Camera Manipulation which was programmed by the 2nd creator, Zinc707, our Project Coder. And the game was created by LOLFUNNY12345, our Project Builder. The grass is very thin, and gives off a wonderful effect in conjunction with the wonderful brown fog.

This game is rather small, but easy to identify the wonders that lie within it. When I stepped foot on the ground on which the house stands on, I knew that this was the high-quality engineering that we do not normally see in genuine ROBLOXian games, and it was clear that LOLFUNNY12345 is a rather good builder and c-framer. The game features somethings that I just cannot get over, one is the way the ground just settles in the calm "dirty" waters.

The fog and sky are very right to me, because I remembered while playing this game, the sea is only "blue" because the sky reflects on it, so, the water is only brown because the dense fog and cloudy skies reflect on the dirty water.

I once met LOLFUNNY12345 on a game, before anybody else in the Roblox News team, I became friends with him and showed Zinc707 his work. Slowly the two both became good friends and realized they both had something in common: they are both amazing game developers. They decided to start working on games together, and they created this masterpiece.

Overall this game is a small addition to ROBLOX that could create a new starting point for future builders, and that is, inspiration. Don't give up if you don't think you can create a game as good as this. ROBLOX is a game engine in which everything is possible. Anything is possible, remember, "size matters not.."-Yoda. And that statement so far is true to everyone. Remember your place, and make a game as good as this, even if it's very small, it makes a great difference of persuasion.

Thanks for reading.

CFraming Review: Tarnished Coast

Tarnished Coast

Well, there's one thing I've never appreciated about ROBLOX, do you know what that is? It's the pointless games that manage to get to the front page, I mean really, the last game I reviewed was stupidity in the making. But some games, like "spantastic" --(New Word) games, are just amazing. But this takes good building, and everybody knows, most good buildings come from CFraming. And I'm about to review a small, but effective game, Tarnished Coast..

Tarnished Coast is an epically CFramed game, there's no doubt about that, just look at that picture, I can already see it's great, here's a view of that CFrame with maximum graphics..
As you can see, it's beautiful. It's no doubt, that even simple things can take a while to implement into a game, am I correct? I think yes.

I can also say that even the simplest of things at 'Tarnished Coast'. Just look at those sewage tunnels..

Realistic to the touch I must say, look how curved that pipe is, and how the wall has cracks that blend. The game also features a brick wall, a realistic hovercraft, and a very nice boardwalk to the grass.

Hovercraft-->
The hovercraft looks like it took the longest, however it doesn't stand out the most. In the whole game, I think the boardwalk stands out to me the most.

<--Sign
The sign is a tiny detail, lying next to the sphere stone bricks, that work with the well c-framed sign to bring life and a feeling of familiarity to the surroundings.

Boardwalk-->
The nails that are screwed into the wood is probably the finest detail I actually have noticed, the corrode and detail they give off makes the game a reality, working in conjunction with the brilliant barrel of fire and grass.

<--Brick Wall & View
As you can see, the bricks are well curved inside the cylinder and the railings are very much realistic, as well as the sewage drains in the floor.

Lots of you ROBLOXians might look at these epic CFrames and think "I can not do anything near as good as this..". Well, as you see in this game, small building but very detailed. And CFraming is very hard, if you use a CFrame Plugin for ROBLOX Studio, it can make the experience a whole lot easier.

This game was also based on Half-Life 2, especially the hovercraft that lies by the boardwalk.

Thank you for reading!
