The ROBLOXian 3.0: A Step In the Wrong Direction?

The ROBLOXian 3.0: A Step in the Wrong Direction?

MODERATELY LONG INTRODUCTION TO A MODERATELY LONG ARTICLE

Life as we know it is about to change.

Well, not life exactly. Your house will still be your house. Your dog will still be a dog. My 13-inch MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM with which I type up articles while sipping on an iced green-tea latte will still be... you get the idea. Perhaps I was being somewhat overly dramatic in stating that "life as we know it is about to change."

What I should have probably said was, "The-appearance-of-some-ROBLOXians-around-you-will-change-with-the-updates-ROBLOX-intends-to-make-involving-packages-being-released-that-many-players-do-not-find-to-be-very-appealing." (Try saying that in one breath!) So, now that that's over with, I guess all that's left to do is show you a few pictures of these package prototypes, leave a link to follow me on twitter, and that's it, right? WRONG. Of course, I will still do those things, but there will be more to this article as well. I plan to go (nearly) all out on the subject of character updates and talk about 95% of the aspects of these new ROBLOXian packages. "Why 95%?," one might ask. The reason being because I know that there will always be something that I've  forgotten to include (probably to be later pointed out by some helpful reader).

So before reading on further, you should know that this review will be split up into 4 sections: the WHATS?, the PROS, the CONS, and, of course, THE CONCLUSION So, without further ado, I bring you the first section...

The WHATS? (a.k.a. Background Information)

It was during late March of this year when news of these updates were released on ROBLOX's official blog (here's the post if you're interested) and at the time, there came mixed reviews from the audience.
"DO IT!!!!!!! <3" screams one commenter, MewQueen, while another, ROBLOXIAN251 says, "No!!! I don't like it." On April 26th, another sneak peak was shown of these more realistic-looking packages, and again, there were people who were all for it, and people that loathed them.
Things just kind of went downhill from there.
After reading the third post on these "Character Explorations" (as shown here) one can gather that much of the community did not sit well with these bodies. Here's a visual I made of what the mindsets of some ROBLOXians are:

Now that you've gotten the basic info on these packages, we can get down to discussing the PROS and CONS of them.

First up... The PROS

For this section, I'll be using good ol' bullets...

                                                        No, not that kind.

So, were were we? Ah, yes. Describing the positive side of these new packages. I'd just like to point out that, if I were you, I wouldn't expect this section to be too long. With that in mind, let's get to it!
  •  Life-like/ More Realistic: Some people like the fact that these packages resemble humans more. They feel like ROBLOX is becoming more advanced, and that these packages show that.
And that's about it for the good aspects. Now on to the more lengthy part of this article...

      The CONS

Now, why do most ROBLOXians find these updates not to their taste? Hopefully, that will be explained here using a few arguments I figured those opposed to these packages might use:

Argument #1: These packages take the BLOX out of ROBLOX!

We miss the old blocky figures of past ROBLOXians! What ever happened to the good ol' days of ROBLOX (Insert video montage sequence here) ?

Argument #2: What is this, ROBLOX or Lego?

One of the larger reasons as to why ROBLOXians dislike these packages is because they heavily resemble characters from LEGO and/or KRE-O. As ROBLOX News's very own NonstopEpic said, "They resemble KRE-O too much. They need to be canned." Below, I present to you the character ideas from ROBLOX alongside mini-figures from LEGO (right of Figure B) and KRE-O (right of LEGO figure).

One quick glance at the hands on Figures A-C, and you can see why many players linked them to LEGO.

Conclusion (Conclusión, Clôture, Conclúid)

By the way,  "Conclusión, Clôture, and Conclúid" all mean "Conclusion," just in Spanish, French, and Irish, respectively. Moving on from the topic of world languages, it appears that it is time to wrap things up. We've covered pretty much everything I intended to, but feel free to leave a comment below if you feel that I've left out anything important. Wait, I have! What I'd forgotten to mention earlier was that these new packages will be OPTIONAL. On ROBLOX's official blog, it read that these new bodies would originally be available to players with Builder's Club and it would be completely up to you to decide whether or not you wish to purchase them. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a certain iced green-tea latte which I must get back to...

¡Hasta Luego! Au Revoir! Slán!

  1. You forgot the entire conclusion, all you said was they were optional. That's not a conclusion. Also, you forgot the fact that the new bodies will be linked to a new crowd of ODer like people. Also, you forgot to mention that they, to some users, regardless of the previous blocky stuff, don't look appealing, and that it would clash with the ROBLOX of today. They are terrible, the bodies are directly from KRE-O, they look terrible, they will attract ODers, they are a complete waste of time! And also, on top of all of this, NO ONE WANTS THEM. THEY ARE MAKING SOMETHING, PAYING PEOPLE, TO MAKE STUFF PEOPLE DON'T WANT. ....

    1. Perhaps "Conclusion" was the wrong word. I was debating whether or not to use OD'ing as a con, but didn't see it as A) too related to these packages and B) possibly not age-appropriate. Of course, if you feel that it is a large problem, then you're more than welcome to express that. I do, though, believe I stressed just how much people dislike these bodies, and that it would not fit ROBLOX nicely.

    2. This isn't the roblox we're used to though. It completely makes Ro"blox" Irrelevant.

  2. I feel like it will become the same as when the 2.0 bodies were released. People will hate them at first but will start using them later on.

  3. it would have been nice if you including that they support ODing and they aren't needed. I honestly thought the whole article was good except for the conclusion and I'd have to agree with Errorless.
